Derby? Well, my average sucks, it's only 77.30%, but that's because when I first played, for like half a year I sucked and got in the 60's pretty much every week. But then I joined the forums and learned how to predict. I get in the 80's almost every week. My best weekend was around 93% I think. And 4 Weeks ago, I came in 3rd place out of 914, I was pretty proud of myself.

It's usually a repeating cycle, whenever posters begins to arise and find their identities on BOM, they realize Sean is a douche, then usually when someone gets banned, they leave and BOM becomes a shithole again. There's been two big noteable waves, the original KJ group, and then the BOF/filmgasm group who first tried to make their own site after leaving, but now have mostly settled here... but that second group in itself is kind of split, there was a group that came here right away, and then when BOF/filmgasm died came another one. And then naturally other scattered posters over time. Actually since the second one small groups of posters have migrated here more frequently, stopping the growth of a larger community like the KJ and BOF ones... but it's all good.

What it comes down is that because BOM's mainsite is so much bigger and well known than KJ's, it's much more likely for people to find and join that forum first, then migrate later. But make no hesitations... this site is much better. Most of us consider BOM a joke nowadays.

^^^^ The most important advice so far in this thread. You're still young. I'm guessing you hate to hear it (it always grated my nerves), but you're emotional compass is more of an emotional pendulum.

If after a few days you still feel like you might attempt, or I'm way off base and you do attempt, call someone. Period. It doesn't matter what the reason. It's insane to suggest that help isn't worth getting because the problem is a bit weird. On top of that, social norms are changing - quite drastically - as the internet is becoming a crucial element in society. Even if whoever you talk to hasn't heard a case like this before, this won't be the last.

I can't say any more that that since 1) I'm not trained to deal with these things, and 2) I don't know your story. My only advice (and this goes for you too, Joe. I know you're reading): if you don't make your own happiness in life, nobody else will. No amount of counseling or medication can change that. Calling someone is a very big and a good step in the right direction, but it isn't enough by itself. Posting about it on the internet won't change it, and neither will the people reading it.

I'd also like to say as a general note to everybody that fuck is not nearly as offensive as grading it down to f***. I'm not 9; neither are any other posters reading this. Don't pander kthx.

Box Office Mojo is a website. It's not the end of the world.

And, if it makes you feel better, I'd say 80% of the posters on this site posted at BOM at one time.

I started posting at BOM in June 2002, which is obviously quite a while ago. I left and came here in 2004, as did just about every poster who was on BOM at that time, because the rules got too annoying and obnoxious. As you could probably surmise, Sean Saulsbury seems to have not changed much in the last four years.

I think if you just let it go and stop worrying, you could have a good time here. We're good people, I promise.

Here are a list of advices, starting with what normal people should do and going down to what people who don't seem to understand that these things aren't a big deal should do.

a) Get over it.

b) Give it a day or 2 and move on

c) Please leave and come back when you're done getting over it.

d) 1 800 Suicide

You'll notice that most of them concentrate on getting over it instead of working out an entire solution for you. That is because any other suggestion regarding this, is retarded. And that number posted ... no, they may not take your reason for feeling this way seriously but they'll probably take how you're feeling regarding it seriously .... chances are, they'll probably come back with a Get over it solution as well.

Also im glad I didnt discover the internet forums till I was in my early 20s.

Sean is not around that much so bannings dont happen that instantly. I think this time only 5 folks have been banned and trust me BOM feels better.

This guy was omnipresent at BOM. he was trying to beat impact towards becoming highest poster there. At his age that is unhealthy. This ban will do him world of good IMO.

But he cannot stay away from attention. So this thread is hardly surprising. Evan try stay quiet for few days and enjoy your time at KJ.

I understand what this Evan guy is going through (though not nearly to the same degree, apparently). I've been posting on the internet since I was fairly young, and it's sort of morphed into how my social state-of-mind functions. It started out as a great replacement for real active/frequent social interactions, and I can already see with the frequency of cell phones in even elementary fucking schoolers that more kids are going to end up coming to some web community as a crutch.

I'm not one to judge on that, but it's always cause for worry because a relationship with a single person is a much different dynamic than with a random mass/community.

Evan, I'd also recommend you reflect on why it has you depressed. If it's because you might miss actually conversing with the people at BOM, I'm sure you can get message to them somehow (either through double account or a messenger) of an e-mail address or AIM name. A one-on-one exchange is much healthier and more fulfilling than a communal grab bag of semi-coherent musings (KJ would be lucky to be have the "semi". BOM doesn't even get the coherent ).

If you're depressed about the vacancy of the BOM forum itself, I honestly don't know how to respond to that. I usually have a fairly receptive mind and can tackle some complex issues, but I'm stumped. If you really want to talk it out with someone after you slept on things a bit and tried to put it in perspective, and you're still too embarrassed to give someone a call, I'd be glad to lend a listening ear. If not, that's cool too, and enjoy your stay at KJ either way.

Darth Indiana Bond was doing pretty much the same when her first started at BOM. i remember one day reading his statistics 149/day.

also i don't think post count is important. i think having a normal post count between 5-20 a day is natural. i can understand some topics get heated, but not everyone likes the sound of your voice. especially when you are posting 100s a day.
