Great thread to bump!

1 - hmmm need to work on that one a little i think.
2 - Making progress :)
3 - Done
4 - Almost done
5 - Done

Almost three out of five i'd say, still a few months to try and achieve the rest.

Hey, bumping this thread was a cool idea.

Groucho wrote:
1. Make a success with my new law practice and make lots more money.
2. Get my second book published.
3. Find an agent or at least a new publisher with a wider distribution.
4. Build up my new business -- a medieval town for renaissance faires, recreation groups, and live action roleplaying groups.
5. Build up my live action roleplaying game with new books and publicity.
6. Help get as many democrats as possible elected in November.
7. Continue to do some cases pro bono to help defendants trapped in the system.
8. Stay alive and healthy in this, my 50th year, and travel to San Francisco for a family reunion.

EDIT:

9. Learn to count to five.

1. So far so good.
2. I need to finish it; I'm really bad about forcing myself to sit down and write.
3. Been sending out letters, but really I need to finish #2 first.
4. Excellent. We've started renting to other groups, and already have bookings for next year. It's going great.
5. The new book should be out soon, and we're adding three new chapters: Iowa, Minnesota, Philadelphia area.
6. I have contributed and done a bit of work, but I should get more involved here.
7. Hmmm. I have one big one with a hearing at the Superior Court in a few weeks but that's all.
8. Yep! Had fun in SF, staying healthy, getting old.

Managed four out of five and Miami is postponed until next summer. Not too bad I'd say.

Though #5 is iffy...I do spend a bit more time with them now, but not nearly as much as I'd like still. Definitely room for improvement there.

I'm going to do this for this school year.

1. Get a girlfriend
2. Make my shortfilm
3. Doing my "Acclaimed Movies I have yet to see" - List. a.k.a. watch more movies

Those are the the most important.

Hmmm.. #5 was done already in a way... (I already had a univ. card... I just haven't used it that way)

I'm constantly working on #4, so it's being done.

The rest... still to come. Of course #1 doesn't depend entirely on me, does it?

I don't have 5 goals, I have 2.

I had a goal in 2007 (October) to lose a significant amount of weight by October 2009 and get my heart rate down so I'm no longer on lisinopril.

I have already lost 35% of that goal (in 3 months). My mission is to lose 50% of the original number, leaving the last bit of 15% of the weight I want to lose for early 2009. It should be doable. It's not really a resolution, I already work out an hour a day. My routine needs to move up to weight training though, which will be easier as it starts getting warmer/sunnier out.

My heart rate has gone from 130 resting to 80 resting, 190 active to 120-140 active, so I will probably be off the pills sooner or later.

My other goal is to financially survive through the year and perhaps get a new job at a certain juncture.

I bought my 50" 1080p Plasma on Sunday so scratch that one off the list.

I got the job obviously.

and I'm about 16 or 17 lbs. off from my weight goal.

My top resolution would be to stop being so lazy.

I'm also hoping to work on my singing. I can manage the instrument(guitar or piano), singing, not so much. But I'm working on it... Scales every day!

Girls, that's up there. The thing is, I think I'll work on that when I head off to university. Right now in the small town I live, most of the girls are either with someone or annoying people I don't like. I've also had a problem with looking at girls in the grades below me, just never felt right. So yeah, limited options. I'm not in a hurry.

Did the first two, I usually have something or other to do these days, so that kind of negates laziness... I also improved my singing like twentyfold, it's actually a lot easier than I expected once you hit the "breakthrough" a couple months in. Can learn songs pretty quickly now, figuring out the melody (through trial and error of sorts) is where most of the work is.

Third one, I just hit university, so I'm working on it.

For now:
1. Get into a steady workout routine (already started) and move away from my unbelievably skinny and unbuilt body. I'm 5'10 and 130 pounds.

2. Work on my drawing and visual art skills if you will. This one's also already in progress.

3. Generally tune up my social/girl skills... In high school I went through a long 'fuck everyone!' stage, so I just stopped trying and stayed in most, but looking at it now, I wish I hadn't because I'm woefully underpracticed, especially with people I haven't met before. But I think I've already learned a bit through my first couple weeks... like fixing my posture when I walk and not going full drunk. I also tie this in with #1, I figure once I start getting a little bit of a body I might have more success.

4. Gain self-control over this place/the internet in general. I figure what I'll do is make myself go through routines where I go on for 5 minutes then log off and stay off for a while. I think if I repeat that enough, I'll be able to go to and from my internet trance state at will.

5. Get my more organized. My room redefines messy. Shit... everywhere... Once again tieing into #4, it's all about mind over matter and self-control.

Thought it'd be cool to see if everyone filled their goals. If you haven't yet, well you still have a week

Made some strides with my work ethic. It's more a distraction problem now than anything else. But I can apply myself

Singing, yes. From zero to hero surprisingly quickly. The drawing/art skills also took a big jump, if I had this progress every year I'd be Picasso by 25, though obviously it won't

Girls uhhhh I'm getting better at it.

The biggest changes in 2008 though I didn't predict. I've completley destroyed all social fear/inabitions, now if I want to say or do something there is no possibility or embarrasment or shyness that stops me, because those are just trivial. I've also learned to push out qualming about people who have a problem with the way I allocate my time (hello family)... I am 100% in control of what I do and that freedom and independance is refreshing

Also allocated by goals... now I know what I'm doing with my life (the arts or some variation) and a general balance of entertainment and knowledge that leads to 100% enjoyment... still going to school to have some degree, but yea. My goals for 2009 will be much, much more lengthy when the thread comes up than this one, which is one proof of the value of this year. This was without a doubt, the best year of my life

1. Yes and No (dammit to hell), more NO though, so no.
2. I think I did, yes.
3. Umm, no, I Brawled online maybe twice.
4. Starting to take shape, but it has to be a no.
5. Wasn't too much to lose, but done.

Kind of satisfied, just wish the more important ones took off much more than they did.

When's the new one going to be started because I know we're all just dying to put those thoughts down.

1. FAIL save 5k
2. FAIL pass A+/net+
3. FAIL get a priest to lvl 70
4. FAIL study french more
5. PASS become more active with friends

Holy moly. I bumped it first and I knew I definitely wasn't going to save 5k but I got close enough. I never got around to passing those certs even though I did buy a voucher for one. I'm so lost. I couldn't do much with the Priest in wow. Only got that to lvl 22. I don't think I spent more than 30 minutes all year on french language work other than listening to french music. How sad. My only real success was the easiest to accomplish in that I got to spend more time than ever with my core friends.

In 2009, hopefully I can really make some real accomplishments/achievements so that I can feel that I haven't wasted yet another year of my precious life.

So start up that new thread...
