Well, that was twice you were quick to lightly reference my post, without quoting it and replying to me. Perhaps if you have additional comments, you can comment on it yourself, as well. Just a thought, though.

Hype- A systematic effort or part of this effort to increase the importance or reputation of by favorable publicity: advertisement, ballyhoo, buildup, promotion, publicity
Excessive publicity and the ensuing commotion
More or less, Gmail is hype. My problem doesn't necessarily lie within Gmail itself, but the hype. Hype surrounding an e-mailing service. It's not a widespread opinion, it's just the opinion of one Canadian. I'm glad if people love it, but people's adoration for it only makes me want to avoid it more. Case in point: avoiding overhyped gaming systems like XBox and PS2, avoiding overhyped shows like Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond (perhaps there is a lot of hype surrounding my shows, but not as much, since both Friends and Raymond have always had better ratings), and having a rather strong disdain for overhyped films such as Passion of the Christ and Titanic. If there is anything in the world that gets to the point where it's shoved down my throat through the media, through friends, and through advertisements, I rather not be a part of it. That's not me knocking the people who love Gmail or even directly knocking Gmail itself (like I clearly stated earlier), that's just me speaking on the hype surrounding something that is only meant to send and receive letters.

I'm simply saying that Mike is such an honest and well-to-do kind of person, who has a reputation for being a great man. That's how I remember Mike from BOM. I just think that if he is such a great man why he can't forgive, and move on and talk to me. I tried talking to him several times, but he doesn't show any interest in me. That isn't exactly the MikeQ. I remember at all.

Hmm, well, I already expressed my opinion on gmail, and I offered some gmail invites to those who wanted them, and in this last post, I wanted to show that I agreed with Ripper's statements. I'm not trying to attack you.
PEACE, Mike

Yeah, true. It IS only e-mail, right? Sorry. I was being a hypocrite in that sense (when have I NOT been a hypocrite, right?), but either way. No harm, no foul. I misread MikeQ. a bit, and that's fine. I was hoping to talk to him here now, and it seemed like he was avoiding (not attacking) me.

I say it's the Gmail talking. They brainwash you, and force you to tell others about the wonders of Gmail. Then, in 20 years, when all but 5,000 people are left on Earth, James Cameron will spring from his wheelchair (he'll be fairly old by then), and make another movie. "G-Mail: The Disaster That Destroyed Mankind" but it won't make much, seeing as how only 5,000 people will be left, and he'll be forced to realize that Titanic will never be topped.

but by then ticket prices will be at a sky high 50000$ so he'll make a good profit off of it.

True, but he won't have overseas grosses to give him a helping hand, as everyone will live in North America. Plus, it will be people who saw Titanic who have survived, and they'll learn to hate Titanic, as Titanic is the only movie left in the world (all movies are destroyed, except for the one in the Super-Safe Safe Vault that James keeps this special copy in). So, it's a toss-up. And, the $50,000 ticket prices will be in Monopoly money, so either way, he'll be screwed.

It's sad, because the little guy is racist. That just causes a self-hatred that no kid should endure. Oh well.

You apply the defintion hype where it suits you, but Alias fits the defintion as do the shows you listed.
So you are jsut knocking the concept that people are excited about email,?
At times I get irritated, every irritated with how people act asif the concept of email is jsut a simple bloddy thing, yes well ten years ago most people didn;t have, or use it. I didn;t relaize instanteous communcation was just so easy why bother be happy about it.
According to you merely senidng and receivng letters doesn't allow for hype but an unrealistic show about a stupid a girl who is caught in the web of the history of a guy who can defy physics is somehoe hype worthy...its all in how you say it. Everything life has hype according to your defintion, it defnies hype as advertising...that's what you do when you want to customers. Its simple business. I cannot fault a company for trying to attract customers.
Is theproblem that you don;t udnerstnad the excitement over a good email program and the whole concept of an invite, its in beta tesing form, heck you couldn;t save drafts when I first got gmail. It makes sens to me to not open it to the masses at first.
note: I happen to be a faithful Alias watcher.

Calm thyself, Ripper. I already said I'm usually wrong either way. At least I give a warning when I talk, cause I know I'm usually wrong. You don't get that with very many other people.

Wow you were actually funny, that's a first.
I didn't realize I had to ask your permission before deciding to disagree with someone.
When you come into a thread and go "I had <isnsert topic of disussion here? because its popular," you have to expect people to take you to task on the issues.
If Mr. X expressed a opinion besides "what I like is great, and what I don't like is just hype," then I'd see your point.

SIR YES SIR! I am right, ALWAYS right. Gmail is hype and will always be hype. At this point, only a payment of $1 million could make me just CONSIDER using it.
Phew, that wasn't so hard!

That just makes me sound simple and circular. I don't run in a circle like that. I simply said that there are a lot of things that are hyped that I don't like. There are some (but fewer) things hyped that I still give in to. If I sound like I was posting the same thought over and over again, well you just didn't understand at all.
