She probably wanted to sing one of her own songs and they said no.
Oh and I had heard Janet thinned down recently. She sure looked chunky today tho.
Huh? She looked great.
Uh, she may have "looked great" but she was carrying around extra weight under that fat concealing black dress.
Not every woman has to be a size zero.
Janet's known to yo-yo diet more than Oprah. Her weight seems to shift 30 pounds every few years.
I still don't see your point.

^ That she's gained weight and looking chunky, like I said originally.
Anyway,

Oh.
That's a dumb point. :p
And don't replay Paris. Me and my assistant both teared up. It was so amazing. And she was like "He was the best daddy ever"... and with that every naysayer should shut their goddamn fucking mouths.

I am not convinced that the girl knew Jackson very well.

A friend and I were secretly hoping Jackson would pop out of his coffin and start performing Thriller in front of everyone right at the end of the funeral service. O well...

So the question is did she say this because he always touched her tenderly in forbidden areas??????
bummer. I watched the event at work from cnn.com. It was originally starting to skip before the event began but when it did begin it was smooth all the way.
I thought it was respectful, funny, touching and a good event overall. I was swallowing my throat during Shield's speech and Latifah's read of the poem. I was on the verge of tears during We are the world, heal the world and Marlon and Paris's last comments. I have a knew appreciation for those last two songs. They really have such a powerful message that's easy to forget.
I thought Sharpton was okay and the Congressman was okay. I really liked her statement about being innocent until proven guilty. That was a lovely punch to that dumbass republic who was calling MJ a pedophile and child molester.
On another note, Libs you should check out the song writer of Man in the Mirror's performance at some church. It's on youtube. Oh, it's very touching.
RIP to MJ and that's the last I'll contribute to this topic.

I legitimately was listening to his Dangerous album an hour before this story broke. He was such a phenomenally talented musician, leaving aside the rather odd and disturbing individual he seemed to be.
the dangerous album was my favourite growing up.

I love this song but it cannot touch Man in the Mirror as Michael's most inspirational song. I hope that gets performed in some fashion.

It was one of my favorites too! It has so many awesome songs. Black or White, Remember the Time, In the Closet, Heal the World, Will You Be There, Who Is It, Give In to Me, Gone Too Soon, Dangerous. Ahhh I played it everywhere. I had it on tape, I recall.

I didn't watch it.
my mum did, and cried a lot. I thought the whole thing was so impersonal and circus-like that i didnt want to watch that morbidity.
Im sure it was beautiful and heartfelt and all that. But i pass.

Other than Sharpton, I was surprised how classy it was. I didn't get a circus like vibe from it.
Except Mariah was a hot tranny mess. (Is that how you say it?)

Re: Michael Jackson Memorial Thread
I kind of thought putting his daughter Paris at the mic and her breaking down like that in front of Millions of people watching did more harm to her psyche than good.. I'm not so certain I would've done that and to make matters worse, was Bill O'Reilly had some dumb body language expert on his show on FOX and was wondering whether Brooke Shields was faking it or legitmately sad and broken up and you have to think: Who on earth would be dumb enough to think such a thing, even going so much as to analyze the kid and it blew me away in anger and frustration at this cynical asshole for even thinking such a thing??
