I was pulling for The Cabin in the Woods, but of course it never stood a chance against Tarantino.
I really REALLY liked Django, but I also believe that it is one of Tarantino's weakest screenplays.

Re: WOKJ Motion Picture Awards Winners Ceremony - LIVE
Best adapted screenplayThe road from a novel or short story, a comic, a play, a television series, etc. to the silver screen is often a perilous one for the writer. (Poor Donald Kaufman did not survive it.) A writer can, say, fail to capture the depth or the magic of the source, leaving fans disillusioned and the uninitiated confused or uninspired. It is important then to recognize and honor the art of adaptation as distinct from and no less worthy than the crafting of an original screenplay. ”This is the best bad idea we have, sir. By far.”In Argo, two published sources chronicling the clever and dangerous plot to quietly extract a group of adrift Americans from Iran during the high-profile hostage crisis--the memoir The Master of Disguise and the Wired article "The Great Escape"--are turned into a detailed, old-fashioned, riveting, and often humorous suspense film which left audiences gasping. ”And so it is with God.”In Life of Pi, naysayers claiming the bestselling novel would prove unfit for cinematic adaptation due to its unusual storyline and focus on its protagonist's interior life and spirituality are proved so very wrong as the film's screenplay explores the title orphan's character arc and the novel's rich contemplation of faith and nature without once sacrificing or undermining its more simple pop pleasures as an epic, yet intimate saga of survival. ”Shall we stop this bleeding?”Rather than a traditional biographical film starting with his birth and then continuing through his education and rise to power, Lincoln depicts just one important chapter in the president's life (his desperate and focused push to at long last rid the nation of slavery in the final year of the Civil War) and through this chapter creates a captivating and moving portrait of the man, his glorious vision, his personal shortcomings, and the era in which he lived, died, and transformed America. ”I swear, we are infinite.”In The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the beloved modern coming-of-age novel, turning as it does on a suicidal introvert who finds friendship, hope, purpose, and romance among his high school's other misfits, rebels, and visionaries, is adapted for the screen by the author, and the earnest and faithful result is satisfying both for the novel's established fans and newcomers. ”This is what I believe to be true: you have to do everything you can, and if you stay positive, you have a shot at a silver lining.”The traditional course of the romantic comedy is complemented, complicated, and intensified by a unique sense of humor, direct consideration of mental illness, and an authentic understanding of life among confrontational, wage earning Eagles fans in suburban Philadelphia in Silver Linings Playbook, a film which finds electrifying and sexy new ways to tell a story of love and second chances. And the award for best adapted screenplay goes to:

Django Dominance, impressive. ZDT became an afterthought pretty quick.

Agreed. DU is not really Tarantino's strongest. Moonrise should have won this one IMO.

I voted for Perks for political reasons. My personal choice would be Life of Pi. A dynamite adaptation of a tough novel.

Re: WOKJ Motion Picture Awards Winners Ceremony - LIVE
I updated the first post with the current list of winners.
Only six categories left to go and I believe not a single movie won more than two awards so far!!!
