I only have Mario, Tetris and Ace Attorney. So that's the only relevant one I have so far.

But that is kind of cumbersome to do it differently for each game.

Thanks for the info, btw.

What Mario? I'll play Tetris DS with you, we can set up a time, may want me to do that though, since I can only use Wi-Fi once in a while. Havent played with anyone Online with Tetris for a long time, and I've gotten better, and want to kick some Human ass. So, you game!? hehe.

And sure I'd be up for Tetris DS. It would be good to try at it at least once, though I suck at all games.

I'm currently stuck there, where exactly do I go to get out of there? I managed to get to this pier, but I can't go anywhere else from there.

That be the place. I spent probably half an hour trying to get out of the area, and only found the way to the pier. Which area am I supposed to go to?

Post Re: Last game you played?
heh ok well here's the route I took
after I open the doors to the restaurant I went to the right (of course) and then killed the cops, went left and there's a passage way on the left with a gate

More cops come, you summon a berserker through the fence who opens it and also kills some guards

eat their hearts and turn left once you exit and there's a ladder over a fence

Then I think there's a fence on the left when you kill more cops and exit that alleyway, and there's a door somewhere there to enter.

I am liking The Darkness more and more.

It has such a great creepy atmosphere, and the way it goes about telling the story really makes for good story telling. I actually felt genuinely worried for characters like I would in a movie. Though could be just cause I was a bit depressed tonight.

The grade is going up.

Mmmm... looks like my The Darkness review will be headed for a 9.0. I really quite like it a lot, despite some of its flaws.

The atmosphere is just perfect, enhanced greatly by the brilliant voice acting (mostly referring to the voice of The Darkness). It's a great game. I lurv it.

Should finish it later tonight.

I picked up a couple old 360 games that I found a good deal on... Moto GP 06 and some X-Men game. Moto GP goes a little too hard toward the realistic racing (you spend more time on the brakes than the gas), but it should keep me mildly entertained until something shinier passes my eyes. I haven't tried the X-Men one yet.

Post Re: Last game you played?
The Darkness shines extremely bright. (hyuck hyuck)

Finally finished it earlier today, and wow, I was loving it before the ending, but it blew me away after that. Time to get down to the nitty gritty, as lame people say.

Pros:

1. Gameplay. While not as refined as some games, this game still offers solid fun gameplay. The Darkness that is within you adds for more options/cool/fun. You have the Creeping Dark, which is basically something you can send forth to kind of stealthily just rip out the throats of your enemies while you stay behind cover. You then get a shield so you don't die as easily, but the next thing that isn't a passive ability is the demon arm. This is a fun ability to use. One of my primary uses for it was to smash out the lights, cause the lights will drain your power and eventually leave you without the protection of The Darkness. Before I just kept shooting out the lights, which was annoying! With the demon arm it is a lot easier and less ammo wasting. You can also impale people using the demon arm, which is quite fun to do. You can even wave them around in the air if you want. There are other uses for it as well.

You also get Darkness guns, but really I only ever used those when you are in "hell" as it keeps the undead soldiers down for good. And the last ability is to create a black hole. Basically it just sucks everything around it into its center, killing anyone that is pulled in it.

It can be a little repetative at times, but it's still a lot of mindless fun wielding all the guns and using your darkness abilities. It's also a challenging game without being too frustrating. I died quite often...

2. Atmosphere. This is really the big one right here. The game has such a slick presentation and gets the atmosphere absolutely right. It can be very creepy, it can be very cool, and it can be very sad. The voice acting, the music, that feeling of helplessness during some certain scenes... all sets the mood perfectly.

3. The Story: It's a revenge plot, but just the way it is done, especially for a video game, blew me away. With heart breaking moments (I actually teared up at the end... honest... first time for a video game), sections in hell that really can creep you out, and that ending... boy.

4. Lots of stuff to do: The game is from the creators of Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, and it definitely shows. You will find yourself talking to quite a few people, and even given many side quests to help them with. Not as many as an RPG, but for a first person shooter it's something that doesn't happen very often. Adds a lot more stuff to do in the game than if you just went from plot point to plot point. Im not sure how long it took me to beat the game, but it has to be at least 15 hours, which is pretty good for a First Person Shooter.

5. The Darkness: Not the abilities, the character. The character resides with you at all times, and talks a lot, which is great because the voice talent for this role does an unbelievably great job making the character threatening and frightening at the same time.

6. That Ending.... The last 20 minutes... just amazing. The Darkness gets more powerful, almost invincible, and you really feel it getting more powerful. It's exhilarating.

Cons:

1. Graphics: Now, this isn't to say that they weren't good. They looked just good, there were just a couple of problems with them. For one, the lips when people talk... barely move.... Looks weird. Also there were a couple of glitches here and there, not many at all, but something I noticed. Hey... with so much great to say about the game, I have to stretch to find problems with it for the sake of my review.

2. Weapons: You get a lot of weapons, but in the end the pistols really seem like the best ones to use, and you get them instantly... I only used the machine guns at the last couple of missions, and that's because all the guys were using machine guns too and there were a lot of them.

3. Load times: The load times are kind of long, and when you're going from subway stations to other areas and doing side quests, it can get a little annoying.

Overall:

I was skeptical about buying this game at first, wasn't sure it would be worth 60 bucks. But it definitely was. I loved this game. Best game of the year so far, and it could very well end up at the top of my list at the end of the year even with all the games coming out. I can't praise this game enough...

9.5/10

I played the last level a couple more times. I may be a little obsessed with this game now.

It's funny reading my posts and seeing how drastically my opinion of the game changed.

First post "It's Ok. Probably around an 8.0"

Second post "It has some problems"

Third post, after going through one particular scene in the game, "Im liking this more and more"

Fourth post "I like it quite a bit, probably finish around a 9.0 or so"

Fifth post "I love this game so much I want to take it into an alley and get it pregnant, 9.5"

Post Re: Last game you played?
Another comment. If you're expecting boss fights where some human manages to get shot 50 times and still lives, then you're expecting too much.

I know some of the reviews talked about how the boss difficulties weren't really that high, but I didnt mind it much. I was just enthralled with the game. The last 20 minutes, which are not hard at all (probably the easiest part in the game) made the game for me because of how incredibly cool it was.

I know I judge games a bit differently than some, where a lot of the times, even though I often say gameplay is more important than graphics (which it is), as long as the gameplay is solid, sometimes the rest of the package becomes a lot more important than the gameplay, and makes something great out of gameplay that was just decent.

The Darkness was an enthralling experience for me, and I hope there is a 2nd one.

Seeing as Squee already went in depth on The Darkness, I'll just go straight to my bottomline: My experience with The Darkness reminded a great deal of The Indigo Prophecy: While the gameplay is nothing to write home about, the story is one of the greatest I have ever had the privaledge of seeing unfold in front of me. The scripted scenes (especially the middle turning point and the last 15 or so minutes) stirred as much emotion in me as any film Hollywood has produced this decade. The Darkness isn't about what transpires between point A and point B, it's about what occurs at point A and how that'll drive you to get to point B.

8.5/10

Damn I suck at writing this reviews... This is pretty much exactly how I felt about it, except seeing that story unfold added another entire point to my score as compared to yours. I did a bad job getting that through in an eloquent manner such as yours.

I think it's more of the style of your review then you not getting it across well. Pro/Con reviews always seem that way, you should write an "essay" style review of it.

Yeah, I kind of just write these up on the spot. Maybe if i prepared a bit more they would be better.

Though my movie reviews would still be shit, cause I know nothing about the technical side of movies.

I was late to the Super Mario 64 party. Wave Race was the first I saw on the N64 and it's what prompted me to buy the system. It was one of those few times my jaw hit the floor in awe... the physics and graphics were amazing for the time. You have to remember no game had ever had water or water physics even remotely close to it before. It just holds a special place in my heart (somewhere in between Kate Beckinsale and my dog).

By the time I got around to SM64 everybody was saying it was the best game in the world and I was led to believe I would be so excited over it that I would poop bunny rabbits when playing it. It was fun, and a very solid game, but I pooped no bunnies.

I'm sure my SM64 experience was VERY similar to when people go back and play Halo 1 and say "meh" and that it was good, but didn't live up to the hype. It's about impossible for a game that rises to mythical proportions of hype.

I've been sick all day so I started Tomb Raider: Legend. Rather easy and kinda short since I'm almost half way through, but still a solid and fun game.

I am playing Timesplitters: Future Perfect and it is still as fun as ever, I don't think hardly any first person shooter games are as addictingly fun as this one.

Nascar 08 - D

I don't like racing games. I hate bad racing games. And this is a very bad racing sim. Plays more like Forza than PGR and in my book, that's a bad thing. Oh, and going around in a circle for endless amounts of laps is as boring as watching people do it in real life.

Madden 08 - A

I'm really, really impressed with this years outing. The threat of a little competion really worked wonders because this is the best Madden in YEARS!!! And this coming from someone who has ragged on EA for not even trying with the franchise anymore. Madden delivers.
