Post Re: Moderator Elections!
There are two possible reasons why the WC has been shit in the last 12-18 months of shit in the WC can be explained by the presence of new posters such as Argos, snack and McSteamy.

I mean there have been months when the Ye Olde Pube and German Conversation thread had dust flying around in them. Even I over the past few months (apart from these last few weeks) have been do bored of the dire conversation going on between the same half a dozen users, some old some new. Seriously nearly thread had turned into some kind of group discussion about something as boring as this: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=51251 and the drama boring. libs vs korrgan is nothing compared to me vs loyal.

Gulli, Dr Lecter, roo and Loyal: If people were so sick of the bitching and carryings on then they should have probably avoided bitching behind closed doors where their hatred for KJ was manifesting and brewing. I'm quite aware of a few cliques that took it upon themselves to destroy the others. For fuck sake, say what you want and make your own fun. if people really left KJ because of certain users then maybe it was good that they grew a pair somewhere else. its unfortunate because i actually liked a lot of them.

I've been saying the same thing since last year. I mean, not to be too blunt but, well, fuck em.

I enjoy the movie related forums here way too much to let the Water Cooler drive me away.

I still think some people are using the WC drama as a scapegoat instead of just saying, yeah, I have a girlfriend/wife/job/school now and I can't really spend time online anymore. Sometimes you age and feel like you have to give shit up for other shit. Suck it up.

(In response to getluv): As far as the water cooler goes, I don't want my team trying to change the natural flow of conversation here. This is a section of the forum that is defined by the posters who use it, so if posters are disappointed that a majority of WC content lacks, well, content, those posters should take it upon themselves to lead discussions they find interesting.

I like roo's idea...but I'm not sure it will work. When posters/cliques bicker, the situation sometimes transcends the WC. People have too much on their mind that they won't take kindly to losing their voice, even for a few days. Let's try and reduce the tension by offering private mediation or at least asking the parties to keep their arguments isolated, so as not to spoil WC conversations for the other 99% of people who browse the WC.

Oh I wasn't referring to that at all Yos, the goofy threads are always the best in the WC. I was referring more to the dramaz in the past year being rather vicious.

Fair enough. I withdraw then, clearly people aren't going to take it seriously. So getluv, the next time you get a bug up your ass, I suggest you heed your own advice.

Pity he never will, the lad mistakes aggressive disdain for being right.

Oh, totally, I got that. I wasn't really referring to you when I wrote "someone"

I think people are sort of taking it seriously, but it was you that was the problem.

A coward? I see no faults in the policy. Obviously you can't see how serious the problem is because you are knee deep as part of the problem on this site. I just refuse to step into a position that's hamstrung by the site ownership's inability to impose order.

It's clear that torrino, et al. are not serious about this, loyal is an extension of that. I'm not about to make a commitment to better the enviornment then get hamstrung by those very same folks. It will end up the same way it is now.

It's not a vanity position, it's my attempt to make things better. If they don't want to go that direction, it's their choice.

I was considering running for a moderator position, but now I don't think so. There are many great candidates running and I don't stand a chance. Good luck to the candidates!

Peace,
Mike

It is reassuring to know that at least one person learned something from the admin election...

i've acted the same way i did on day 1 i arrived here. so stop licking your stinky fish in accusing me as part of the problem. i don't have the time to talk about people behind their back for large periods of time. obviously many people here do.

if anything during the 2004-mid 2008 and 2009 the moderating on the site has been largely the same.

and i think MikeQ should run for mod.

I find getluv and Loyal's position to suffer from its completely arbitrary nature. I mean if you follow the grow a pair line to its logical conclusion their should be zero moderation and rules, you should be able to post whatever you want and say whatever you want and if somebody dislikes it then tough titty on them.

Its a forum not a real life situation. If somebody says something insulting or goading to you in person you have the option of smacking them in the face if so inclined, in the lovely world of the interwebs everyone is a 500 pound gorilla so you need somebody with a big elephant gun to keep things civilized. Simply saying grow a pair is a cop out.

I mean for example I find the posts insulting Chips wife to be utterly disgusting and I'd ban whoever stooped that low immediately but nooooooooooo you must grow a pair and take it. What absolute nonsense. Ask yourself would you do that to a person face to face, and if you say yes tell me how many teeth you'll be missing after.

but if Chip started it, then he deserved it. i'm not going to make some of the jokes i make out of thin air. some people whole heartedly deserve them. And if we are going to keep Chip's wife out of this, then let's leave everyone who doesn't exist in the forum out of it. including celebrities, directors, studio exes etc.

i treat everyone the same in the end.

of course this isn't the real world, otherwise I wouldn't be talking to you in the first place. nor would i be talking to chip etc. and you wouldn't be making torrette like announcements when you get pissed off with someone.

make this place what you want it to be, which is more or less another point loyal and i are trying to make. ignore the people you wish to ignore and go on. if you can't, then tough titties.

also growing a pair has nothing to do with moderating standards.

What about that whole episode where Argos was posting pictures of you and you complained? Why didn't you grow a pair then and let it continue?

Its a two way street. Oh and you don't treat everyone the same I must point that out, you show a massive swing of bias towards some posters. But you can't see that you seem to be utterly blind to your own faults and try and dress it up as "oh I just call it as I see it" nonsense. Its nothing of the sort.
