How is the Canon SD100?
That's the original Digital Elph that started it all in 2003... It is still 3.2MP but only 2x optical zoom... smaller LCD (1.5") and because it is an earlier generation it might have a slower processing engine, affecting mostly shutter lag (the time it takes between pressing of a shutter button and picture being taken), and picture quality too (later designs always use better algorithms to get most out of the CCD chip, although it isn't a huge improvement)
I use to own the similar Digital Elph (everything the same but it used CF instead of SD memory cards, cheaper at the time) and Powershot G1 (similar chip)... My recollection was that these generations of the Canon digicams (SD100 included) were biased to showing too much red, or having a 'reddish' color cast, i.e. skies came out with a slight mangenta cast, rather than being blue... Again, these were almost imperceptible to notice, but to a critical eye and under certain conditions could become bothersome, IMHO... The newer models should be more neutral... That would be a reason I'd advise to stick with newer models, released in Feb. 2004 and after...
If you want to go with that one, try the later model SD110...
