The list is done, it doesn't change once its been written.
And 'interesting' is not a term one would usually use to flatter someone, Argos.

One will always seek flattery before they seek condemnation or rejection.

Then this list is not about power but about your desires and how users have fulfilled them?

The list is not meant to be taken as bible or particularly seriously.
It is a list compiling prominent users in an order that roughly reflects their stature and prominence to other users. This list shows users who've dedicated time, effort, and energy into this website, and praises them for making the forum a more interesting place for us all.

It highlights a group whom are acknowledged, silently, to have earned the "respect" of other users. I try my best to write this list looking at the events that have shaped the site as a whole and how other users respond to powerlist members rather than whom i argued with in what thread.

All of this said, the dynamics of forum politics are to be humoured because at the end of the day they are completely irrelevant and when it boils down to it, past superficial ego flattering, this list has no purpose. Many power-list players couldn't give a rats fuck where they end up, but it's fun to see nonetheless, see how others perceive their actions.

And anyone knows that I am not easily swayed by flattery.

Xiayun is one of the 'founding elders' of the forum. He has been here since way back early boxofficemojo days and his unbelievable dedication to numbers and the box office has been unwavering for the past decade. Xiayun's responsible, logical thinking gained him moderation powers which saw him reach as high as 4th on the powerchart during his heyday.

But Xiayun didn't heed powerlist warnings and continued to evade interaction with the userbase in the water cooler. His dedication to the site is soley based around the industry data. Facts and figures are all her cares for, and whilst he gets a great deal of respect from users in that field, he is completely unaware of the forum bonds and dynamics that have been formed in the Water Cooler.

Xiayun and Lecter are similar in many ways in this respect. They have no time for interacting with users any more other than to forward opinions on data, and analyse things with cold calculation. This lack of humanity is what truly damages Xiayuns potential power.

Finally making his powerlist debut, Raffiki had always been just missing that top 25 ranking due to fierce competition from the likes of insomniacdude, who is not appearing on this years list. Suffice to say the falling stock of other members and the slightly rising stock of Raffiki was enough to catapult him into the top 20.

A long-time respected user, Raffiki is kind, open, friendly and gay. There are a number of benefits in every area of that description, and most importantly Raffiki is a perennial mate of the power-clique known as K-Gay, the group who can pull strings, create drama, and make or break a person at the drop of a long-worded Robert Plant lyric followed by a moan about burnt toaster-struddle and an eye roll in the right direction.

But Raffiki has largely been a positive member of this sometimes pedantic group, and that has lent him great crossover appeal. He also is basking in a level of respect and power afforded to him by many manhours put in during the BOM era which grows more prominent in users minds as we realize how long we've all known one another.

Raffiki has gradually opened up his life to forum members of the years, allowing people to know him as a poster before as a person. Now the gates are open though, many of the powerful kgay members are on his site, and courting his handsome attention.

A few of these picks indicate that Michaelperiod is stuck desperately in the past.

I like Raffiki, but he doesn't really post here anymore. That's not really Michael's fault...he, as we all do, exposes himself to a certain circle of threads/posters. In that circle, Raffiki might be #20. Which might put him above Korrgan in the salary ranking when one considers Korrgan's fights (i.e., legal expenses!)

The past is what dominates the present on a forum.
Respect is something earned long-term. It is something that is built up over time. it is why new members scrape into the list if at all - because they have not established a rapport or a long-term input that is considered valuable.

Tim for example is rarely here, but when he comes and posts its met with a flurry of activity.

Argos for instance, is not valuable. in fact, the forum set up in place during became stillborn well before his return.
