 Re: Your current relationship status
Knew you'd say something like that Chip! About 3 hours or so. So not too bad. But our work schedules are crazy. He's supposed to spend this weekend here with me but now that's not likely to happen because of work. And I just found out today that they changed my on call schedule, and I'm now on call for both of our birthdays, which are 2 days apart. So it'll be at least sometime in mid June probably before I see him. Oh well.

Boyfriend. July 6th will make 4 years.
Although we've been living together for 3 years now and the relationship is more developed than what "boyfriend" might imply. Anything beyond this status will require moving, though.

That's a really long time. Didn't you say this was your first relationship at one point? Maybe I'm wrong. Yeah, it's my first relationship with a guy. Besides a couple "girlfriends" in Junior High, I had one girlfriend for maybe 4 months in High School, but that obviously wasn't going to go anywhere. I've known I was gay since at least age 9/10 (maybe not the concept, but I knew boys were prettier than girls) and anything more than holding hands with her was unthinkable. For every guy I was interested in growing up, I was always too nervous to attempt to take it beyond friendship or messing around together (I think I mentioned one in this thread) and they eventually dwindled to nothing. Then on 7/6/2009, I decided to take a chance when one of my friends introduced me to her gay friend as I was visiting her. We got along really well during the day, and before he left that night I asked if I could walk him to his car and that's where I asked him out. He said yes, and here we are 4 years later. erikdean wrote: Together for 17 years, married for 4. Wow. Congratulations!

I met my boyfriend's parents this weekend. The world's least favorite pastime!
They were really nice though.

 Re: Your current relationship status
I've been single for almost all of the 4 years I've been in college, and I'm graduating this month. It's been pretty lonely but it's kind of relieving hearing stories or seeing friends that are couples argue as it makes me remember how frustrating and stressful a relationship can be. If I'm not in one by the time I'm 25 though...

I was in a relationship basically the entirety of college (well, the last 3 years of it). I don't regret it, exactly, but in hindsight I sort of wish I had been able to play the field a bit more.

 Re: Your current relationship status
All the folks out there longing for a relationship don't understand how difficult it can be when a serious one ends.
Really, just take your time. Don't be unavailable, but the last thing someone out of a relationship should feel is desperate. To a lot of people, they have it made.

 Re: Your current relationship status
Yeah I actually agree with excel. I don't mind being single at all. It's rather nice. Less stress. I just figure as far as this relationship crap goes, it'll happen when it happens. No rush. I have noticed, once one person is interested in you, suddenly three or four are at once. So inconvenient!

 Re: Your current relationship status
Be careful with with long distance though unless you have a for-seeable date in the future where you two will be living in the same area.

 Re: Your current relationship status
I love my boyfriend more than life itself, seriously. Like he is the best guy I have ever met and nobody has ever treated me as great as he has. I've dated some really terrible people and it is so refreshing to be with somebody who gives a fuck about me. Like, my last boyfriend, whom I dated for over two years, I had like nothing in common with and he'd always get pissed off if I just wanted to chill and watch a movie or go see a movie (we lived together, so he was always around and just got so unbelievably pissed off if I watched a movie LOL what a match made in Heaven!). He isn't a huge movie fan or anything, but it's always what I want and he'll do this and that. I don't take advantage of him or anything, but it's nice to be pampered sometimes. And it is definitely more than just a boyfriend kind of thing... I don't know how to explain it, but we just clicked from the second we saw each other, it is kind of the most amazing feeling in the world. THAT BEING SAID. Relationships fucking suck hard, even the good ones. They're so difficult. I was going to move to NYC before I met my boyfriend (well Union City, NJ which is right outside of the city) but I had like four months after I met him to move and I ended up staying because of him. Part of me thinks I made the right decision and the other part of me says I didn't. I'm so unhappy where I live, seriously it fucking blows. I have a shit job and there is just nothing here... I just hate it here. But he actually has a really good job and LOVES his job and he doesn't want to move, so I'm kind of just stranded here. I kind of feel like I'm being held back and it annoys me sometimes because I gave up so much to be here with him. I feel like I'm going to be an old married housewife when I'm like 40 and be in the same position as I'm in right now. It kind of scares the shit out of me. I'm still trying to figure out the whole relationship thing. I've been in quite a few, but the guys have always fucking sucked. It's so hard for me to trust and to open up with the person I'm dating, and a lot of problems stem from that. I end up holding so much shit in and it kind of just explodes out eventually and is just not good. I have no idea where this post was going. I'm rambling so hardcore right now. Oh, it was about how relationships suck and wait until you find the right one that is worth the bullshit and pain and everything, because despite that, it will be worth it.
