THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

@ Mods:

Can you make this a sticky? Thanks! ;) :D

Hoepfully we can all learn FOR NEXT YEAR as lots of people above have complained about the categories and the same winners.

I talked to Lecter before the contest started and his response was - well I am running it - Well now you guys get what you deserve.

Again for next year as I pointed out this year.

- too many similar categories - causing the same winners. Talk about this as there could have been 5 categories dropped.

- why isn't this the KJ / BOM awards

what Biggest Franchise Fanboy movies are out this year that this needed to be a category.

why a category for people who have never joined or don't post as this site just started - Most missed Poster

With a non movie category like Best Political Debator

why no categories for the posters ( like lots of people talked about )

- games
- tv
- music
- literature
- sports
- etc

Or as Archie said - some crazy ones.

Could say more, but nuf said.

Looks like a hell of a awards time coming. Looking forward to the same winners speaking over and over or a small bunch of them.

Just too funny.

It is because they all hate you, Rod.

It's true. Think about it.

Commenting on the nominees, I have to ponder why Squee wasnt nominated for most missed poster. I dont know about anyone else, but I dearly miss him. Maybe miss him a little too much.

I agree there could be more fun categories, but I disagree that the same person will win everything. I remembered the last BOM award, we had people with a lot of nominations but came away with no wins. Lecter and dolcevita will win their share of awards as they deserve, but I could easily see 10 or more people winning different categories.

As for specific forum categories such as TV, Sports, Music, etc., I just don't think there is enough participation in each yet to warrent a category. For example, with sports, I think matatonio deserves a special mention for running the weekly NFL prediction threads, but there really isn't much discussion going on except for people giving out predictions. Political topic is the only consistent subject that can generate pages of discussions. As the site grows toward BOM's peak level, we can start adding those awards again.

hopefully in the future things will change for the good!!

hope that next year, we add some great, fun and crazy categories!

Hey everyone..this is just for fun, and is a trial run. Certainly it will change with every new presentation, and I think this has little to do with the categories at all. I looked them over, and maybe with the exception of smartest and best post maker, or post maker and thread starter, I don't think they are that similar. I think, if one looks at the breakdown, most of the noms went to people that have high post counts, or where sort of people that kicked this place going. There are some people that have high counts that I just think are "quieter" posters. Thoughtful, put in their two cents, etc. This forum is only two months old and it is just going to take a little longer for those people to get noticed I think. I made a conscious effort and included 39 different people on my ballot, I don't think everyone did that. Most people just vote what they know...

That being said, there were definately some break-ins. Appy is new and people recognize her. Matatonio got nicest poster, which we can all agree on, and honestly, I don't remember who was on the old BOM one, but I don't think Mark was, so clearly he has made a good impression here too.

I think these things just take times to get the kinks out, and while agree there is some serious name-brand recognition style trends here (I can't explain stuff like 10 or 11 noms any other way) I do have a proposal for that which could work in the future. Maybe if one of the restrictions on the ballot is that a voter can't mention the same member more than three times? That way the same name doesn't cover evey category on a ballot, and the voter has to slow down and realize not only what voters are most compatible with a category, but also what categories are most compatible with a poster? C'mon guys "Biggest Movie Buff" nom for someone like me who only posts once a week in the movie section and not at all in the dvd or box office section? That's name-brand if ever there was such a thing. IMO. Restricting one name to only three appearances on any given ballot might make for a more effiecient way of opening up the playing field rather than heaping on tons of new categories.

I do think the smaller sub-forums will build up enough to get their own noms, and some funny ones like Archie suggested might work as well, but for now lets just sit back and enjoy the pre-awards-show.

Speaking of which, I have something planned in that department that i hope y'all will find entertaining while sipping your champaign and enjoying your caviar?

Now seriously, who is hosting this thing so I can actually go over what I have planned for the pre-party?

edit* Also y'all, expect a BIG turnout (keep fingers crossed) for ballots. i mean, we're talking serious ballot-box stuffing with my ten double accounts and all. But seriously, everyone owes BJ a big thank-you because we sent out official ballots to everyone who has posted on these forums. He did it for the last round too, so really deserves some acknowledgment, as much as the counters, for what he's done for these Awards.

That also means y'all have zero excuse for not voting. We made it easy...just don't make us turn Ripper out on you.

I know it's not cool to not be nominated, and I know I'm the last person everyone wants to hear this from with my 6 nominations, but this is why you need to post more! Post more and get recognized! Also, you have to vote. If you are dissatisfied with the results, and you didn't vote, that's your fault. Your vote could have changed lots of things. I agree that some of the categories weren't that great and some should have been added, but after only about 1 1/2 months on the site, I think we're doing okay, and Lecter, Samweis, and Jon Lyrik are all working too hard for us to complain about not getting nominated.

I was told a week ago to fill out a ballot and mail copies to both samweis and jon lyrik but the Lyrik one is sitting in my outbox unopened still. Should I go ahead and delete it? Not sure what everyone else is doing...well no I won't delete it but just letting Lyrik know if he's around here anywhere.

This is why we have Arsi's and Tony's awards as well. Those are for the crazy categories. And considering I have lived through 4 Poster Awards so far, I can tell that the noms are NEVER the same. I can give you last time's noms and the ones before that and you'll see that only 30% at most repeat. AT MOST.

LOL, Just too funny. And here is your final counter. Note, I questioned this counter as soon as he was nominated.

Just wondering if the votes were reaslly counted as only 3 people know or could that only be 1 person. LOL.

Can anyone say RECOUNT. DID ANYONE ELSE NOT GET THERE VOTES COUNTED - 2 SO FAR.

RECOUNT.
RECOUNT.
RECOUNT.
RECOUNT.
RECOUNT.

- And can we right now remove JL as the final vote counter. The #56 poster with a whole 175 proved he didn't do a good job. Looks like 2 bad choices in a row after BigMOviePimp. HEHE.

- Also as Lecter is the top vote getter, I think he should step down. If no one else wants to do it, I will do it. It is only 1 vote for everyone, it won't be hard.

I think for the finals a MOD should do it.

Also as Lecter pointed out once before defending his choices - well at least they aren't going ot win, so it is better for those to be surprised.

WELL SHOULDN'T LECTER BE SURPRISED ON VOTE NIGHT, WHY KNOW AHEAD OF TIME. LECTER STEP DOWN, IT WOULD BE THE RIGHT THING TO DO.

I'll talk to him on that, but considering what he has told me so far, he definitely saw the ballots, therefore, I am surprised that yours appears unopened.

Also, trust me, the number of noms and wins do not correspond to each other. They never have. Trust me, most likely I'll end up being these awards' GONY. Just to give you an example....exactly a year ago, at the BOM awards I was nominated for 13 Awards and ended up getting 5. The show before that, I was nominated for 7 and I got 5. Therefore, in the end, people only win what they deserve and what they have been voted for. I can BET on ANYTHING that I won't even win 5 awards this time.

I bet that Dolce and probably even Krem will win more than I will and I mean it.

And as for the categories, I think that they should stay the way they are. However, I have to add that I somehow miss the Weirdest Poster category and in the hindsight, I'd favor it over Most Mysterious Poster.

The problem we are just dealing with at the moment is that we mostly consist of BOM folks and we barely get any newbies here. Newbies is what we need to bring the variety into the awards.

Just too funny - how could the votes match up then. I know I pegged there would be problems before this started. Glad Lecter picked his friends or himself to do the vote counting.

Wait until the finals when Lecter and the same above poster are the vote counters.

I could bring out other things but all I can say is just too funny.

Again Lecter you failed to mention these as others have requested over time.

- games

- literature

Having them would be a good way of pumping up interested. And even if there are only 5, it would be a good deserving fight. Give them there due.

THEY ARE POSTERS. Like D, Libs, sommie, etc.

How many possibilites were there for most missed or fan boy or political debator.

Stalking, gice me a break. JUST ASKING THE QUESTION THAT YOU SHOULD BE ASKING AS YOU WERE IN CHARGE AND YOU MADE HIM THE FINAL COUNTERS.

THERE ARE AT LEAST 2 VOTES HE DIDN'T EVEN OPEN UP - HOW CAN HE MISS HIS PM TO SEE INBOX. HOW MANY OTHERS ARE THERE.

As a nominee, I request that this is fixed before final voting is starting - love the power of being a nominee.

Almost everyone agreed that categories like these should go.

And as for the recount Goldie, you start reminding me of wertham...

Just too funny.

called me crazy, but i kinda agree with you! :?

we are going to have the same winners over and over!.
we need some fun crazy noms.

Thanks, means alot coming from the #1 vote poster.

After recounting these with Jon Lyrik and dealing with plenty of ties, we are finally done.

To sam Gam - How did that happen with JL not checking at least 2 voters - how many more were there - and this is about 4 days later and they still aren't open.

-------

And as a nominee and Lecter isn't answering the BIG questions raised above, hopefully he will answer and restore the honesty back to these poster awards.

Ask me any question that you want me to answer here and now.

Again Lecter you failed to mention these as others have requested over time.

- games
- tv
- music
- literature
- sports
- etc

Having them would be a good way of pumping up interested. And even if there are only 5, it would be a good deserving fight. Give them there due.

THEY ARE POSTERS. Like D, Libs, sommie, etc.

How many possibilites were there for most missed or fan boy or political debator.

Almost everyone agreed that categories like these should go.

And as for the recount Goldie, you start reminding me of wertham...

Sorry Lecter, I know you think this is stalking, but how can I not respond when you are basically making up things.

I asked if the suggested categories be announced so that everyone one can have a final look / say about them.

You said no, I am running it .............

When did everyone agree. They changed alot form Day 1 - Sorry but just another joke involving the way that this was run. And note I made these comments early, THEY WERE EASY TO SEE IN ADVANCE, not after they happened.

I asked people to discuss the awards and the categories. They did. The general cnsensus was that these should go and they did. Only because you and one or two other posters disagree, it won't be changed. Before even making the final changes, I once again talked to a couple of major posters like bABA and Torrino, who is my co-organizer about the categories. The decisions were not made by me alone. You can ask them.

I do and I have said that too. Read above.

Anything else, feel free to ask me. By the way, I reported your accusations, so it's not up to me to decide if you're right or wrong :)

Which accusations - As a nominee, I have a big problem with Jon not opening up and counting the votes.

Sorry, that you as the organizer of this contest don't feel that way.
