Krem, you don't see the difference between this - double account or no - and mere 'controversy'? This is obvious trolling (again whether a new user or not) and is posted out of spite and malice. I just think there's a major difference between this thread (and this guy's other posts) and a controversial opinion. (Jeff's initial "Kong sucked" post was 'controversial,' for example.) But hey, at least its being dealt with now.

You're ignoring the fact that some people DO think this way. Who would be coming up with all this stuff otherwise? There are whole books written on the subject and countries where this is the accepted way of thinking. Should we sit here in the bubble and pretend that these opinions don't exist and whoever espouses them is an obvious troll and should be prevented from speaking? I would hope not.

It's absolutely pathetic that some people would think that. Yet there are people like that. And, again, we can't automatically assume that whoever is posting that is a troll. There's a very high probability of that, yes, and that's why I took the time to investigate where this guy was posting from, but it's not an automatic decision.

I'm definitely not ignoring any facts. I know people think this way. But one need only read this guys posts and use just a little brain power to realize this is baiting and trolling.

I don't agree with opinions like this, in fact I think they are quite despicable, but, and this is the kicker, if you want to have free speech and free assembly, then you have to put up with morons like this. The point is, we all get offended by different things. I don't get offended by Holocaust deniers because they are basically mrons with no proof to back up their smeer campaigns. But if you are going to ban people and threads because you don't agree with them, then I would expect you to do the same to threads that offend me. Free speech doesn't discriminate. It is an absolute. And you have to deal with it...like it or not.

Well you are looking at it with 20/20 hindsight of knowing who the poster is. At the time it wasn't an unknown person and any forum would have summarily banned him for spamming, no different than if an outsider had come in and posted random letters in several threads or advertisements.

That may be true Archie, but why he can't he say whatever he wants to say when others can say what they want and it clearly offends some. And it was a good point that someone else made...what if he came in and started saying things about 9/11? Would the thread have been shut down then? Lots of hypocrisy here.

But this is a private board. He has the right to say whatever he wants, but that doesn't mean this board has to give him a place to say it. He wants to preach hate, let him start his own board.

I see nothing wrong with setting certain standards for Bulletin Boards. That's not censorship, that's editing.
