La La Land Arrival Moonlight The Witch Zootopia
are my guesses. Though I am not all that sure that Zootopia will have enough passion behind it... I love that lineup. I think it's very plausible but I would put a question mark behind VVitch and Moonlight (have enough people seen the latter? review thread is very limited, although its my #1 of the year and I haven't written a reiew either) Zootopia is strong, not Inside Out / Ratatouille strong for the win but definitely looking for a nom. I saw Moonlight on Tuesday but haven't written a review or anything in the thread either. It's great though. I did nominate it for some stuff.

Any chance Hidden Figures get BP nom here as well for political reasons?

Final count: 23 ballots
No more ballots accepted, since the tallying has begun. Yeah, we'll have some interesting results this year....

As we should every year. This is KJ, not the Academy, so it should always be interesting and different. Anyway, really looking forward to it.

I'd see John Wick over announcing these too. No worries.

Nine categories tallied so far. There will be a couple of categories with six nominees this year.
Also, several people have voted for Your Name, but it is not eligible for these awards because its US release date is in April. I am saying this because it would have actually made it in a major category otherwise...

Your Name had an Oscar-qualifying run in early December, so, technically, it is as eligible as, say, Gold or The Founder.

But in a practical sense, I know that the majority will not be able to have seen it before the deadline, unlike Gold or The Founder.

There will be no Best Documentary category this year, as not enough movies passed the threshold. Best Foreign Film barely made it.

I wonder if Hunt for the Wilderpeople will be up for anything. I believe it is a film people here would love if they saw it. Not sure how many did.

If a film received an Oscar qualifying run and inclusions in various film festivals (including in the US), and has been in theatrical release in several foreign markets, including the UK and Australia, before 2017 - I see no reason why it shouldn't be eligible here given our international user base.

Re: 13th WOKJ MP Awards: Noms Announcement TONIGHT 8 pm EST!
Glad to have a chance to watch Your Name later this year and be able to vote for it next year.
I saw Split at a film festival in US last year, but knew to wait until next year to vote for it for Best Actor, But these foreign films are kind of hard to tell, like I had voted for The Lure this year but just realized it's not coming out until this month so won't be eligible until next year.

xiayun wrote: it probably won't show up in any categories outside Foreign Language Film, but I gave The Handmaiden 11 nominations (and 7 for Your Name). Just saw The Handmaiden a couple days ago, wish I had seen it earlier before ballots were due, it would've been all over my ballot as well. Voting for it for Most Overlooked.
