All ballots will be sent tonight. There was a bit of miscummunication b/w myself and BJ. If you want to vote before then, just delete the incoming ballot. There are only about 90 people left without it, and they'll be in those people's boxes by late night. Demanding. Now I just remembered why I hadn't wanted to be a part of this.

We'll get it fixed up, and besides, I'm withholding ballots until everyone has a chance to see Bad Education and Moolaade.

*oh woops, was that another shameless plug?*

So you saw Coffee and Cigarettes a second time and decided to raise your grade, dolce? I see it appearing in your list...

I'm not going to be able to see Bad Education before video, unfortunately. I've still got to see Sideways and The Aviator and February is my busy month (SATs and AP-prep that basically begins now and ends in the beginning of May). I gave Almodovar a Best Director nod though because it seems as if he's made another great film and in any other year he'd be on my list. I know, I know. Shoot me. I didn't see it...

torri, i'd skp The Aviator and see Bad Education, if given the choice. I haven't seen either, also.

Yeah, I'm saving all the ballots too. So far I have full ballots from the following people:

Amos
alex young
torrino
Dr Malcom

the Ballot you sent me of Dr. Malcom is incomplete
no best song
no Foreign Language film
and no animated feature!

I believe Malcom is skipping them all together and isn't planning to add them later. The ballot he submitted is pretty much the final one, but if there is an update, I'll let you know.

Thanks Dolce! I'm in no rush to get a ballot because I still have a few movies to see. I've made a preliminary one, but it'll change once I see all the movies I want.*

*I've seen Bad Education and it was pretty good. I've never heard of Moolaade...what country is it from?

Not my grade, just how a rank it in compared to others. That takes into consideration production value, acting etc. Oddly enough, over at oscars we've been discussing M&B and Aviator, etc. Baby gets direction, but aviator gets production, sideways gets screenplay, and those are all important for best pic. so for me the true champ in a sort of jackie joyner kersee way is actually neverland. meh, coffee and cigarettes had some flaws, which is why i had to grade it what i did, but it is definately in my top ten for enjoyment, thought, etc. production value and to another extent cinematography, and also editting, took it down a bit as far as my grade, but for the movies i'll remember and maybe own from this year...its up there.

Oh yeah, and its by far the best ensemble cast.

*oh oops...I did it again*

I'm going to redo my ballot so don't really consider it yet...

Everyone's got to rally up behind the seven best male roles of the year: Jamie Foxx, J.K. Simmons, Topher Grace, Clive Owen, Timothy Olyphant, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Will Ferrell. You knows you liked them.

Why'd you kick that one off your list? ;)

It's ranked 13th now...had to make way for coffee and cigarettes. it was released in late 2003, but so was that tupac movie, so there. It was in like two theatres before the new year, and even then probably didn't get up higher than 20, but pretty much anyone who say it saw it after jan. 2004, including myself. when did you actually see it? think hard, because i thought so as well, but now i realize it got released on the cusp, and is pretty much a 2004 film in my book.

everyone has movie ballots now...so if i missed you, tough. (j/k) let me know i guess, or let the hosts know...i spent way too much time to send out 250+ ballots. show some love (yeah, i'm demanding it) and you know who to vote for right? right?

Galia, i've a question about Bad Education...

Is it the type of film that has to be seen in a movie theater to fully appreciate, or would a computer screen work?

I only ask because there is no way I could see it before the deadline without downloading it.

Thanks. That was an interesting read. I'm not usually one for Foreign or inde films, but I do see a few. This year alone I've seen more than the past two years. Maria Full Of Grace, Bad Education, The Motercycle Diaries, POTC if you count it. I need to see The Sea Inside and House of Flying Daggers when they come out on video, though.

Thanks a million, dolce!

All voters, if you could, vote for Best Soundtrack as well in addition to those 26 categories. :) Otherwise, if we don't get enough votes on that, we'll just skip soundtrack category.

Interesting patterns have already developed. In some categories, we have few repeat nominees, and in one category, it's so unanimous (not hard to guess which one it is).

Yeah, ditto.

Since the Best Soundtrack category is being missed by a few, I thought I'd throw out suggestions:

Without A Paddle (some great use of music in this film)
Garden State (ditto)
Eternal Sunshine (it's split score/soundtrack really, but some very nice songs on here)

PEACE, Mike ;)

I have a question about Best Song and I don't think it's been answered in the other thread.

Is Best Song only for original songs or any song featured in the film?

I'd try to go for more original ones if you are debating among a few choices, but I'm not going to discourage people from using your own discretion. Nominating "Phantom of the Opera" in The Phantom of the Opera is fine.

Malaguena Salerosa  from Kill Bill Volume 2, A Waltz For a Night from Before Sunset, and Caring is Creepy in Garden State were some of the songs I was curious about.

But I got the answer.

3. You don't have to vote for all categories if you haven't seen enough films for a particular category (e.g. Foreign Film) or you want to save some time filling out the ballot. However, for the ones you vote, please write down the appropriate number of nominees (5 or 3), otherwise your vote for that category won't be counted.

^^^ this right here is for the Best Animated Feature Best Comedy, Best Horror, Best Sequal/Remake, Best Overlooked Film and Entertainer of the Year?!

and in the Bigger awards like Best Picture, Best actor, actress, etc, they have to nominate 5? or 3 is fine too

one other thing, hehe!, ....ummm, if they put just 4 nominees i dont count them!?!....but i can sent a PM to the poster to correct that!

 .............

Ah, yes. It's probably Animated Film. The Incredibles, Shrek 2 and The Polar Express are probably the three, with Shark Tale maybe on a few.
