Re: Shooter on the loose at MIT...
Lockdown lifted, there is really no point in continuing to lockdown the city. I don't think he can get far, and they will get him.

Not sure how he escaped, but I can't see him getting far.

The whole development since last night has just been surreal.

Re: Shooter on the loose at MIT...
But if the older brother did have explosives strapped to his body, that's not somebody trying to escape capture. That's a suicide, and sticking up the 7-11 and wearing the same hoodie that was worn in the suspect photos, knowing full well that they are on-camera, looks like they wanted a confrontation.

Apparently they had nothing to do with the robbery. That was just regular criminality nobody cares about because it lacks fireworks. Why not leave? I guess they did not expect to be caught on tape.

WHDH just played the video of the gunshots going off. I'd say at least 20 gunshots.

Re: Shooter on the loose at MIT...
Yeah this is sort of nuts...
He is captured and now comes the aftermath and I imagine National Security will now become one of the big issues now after years of being in the backburner.
Perhaps the biggest source of controversy will be that Tamerlane was questioned by the FBI in 2011.

I think great praise should be given to the neighbour who found the suspect...

And thanks to all the Americans and people around the world in front of their TVs who have made it possible to sell this as an international event of significance.

Re: Shooter on the loose at MIT...
Lol you are right, until he was captureed I doubt America would have been able to return to normalcy as the media made an insane event.
It was not only American Media.
The BBC and Canadian networks had this story non stop all day.

Re: Shooter on the loose at MIT...
I watched it on CNN pretty much all day long... i think Argos too.
The capturing was a huge let-down... i can only give a D- for that.

Because no matter how much they try and appear like they are independent, they are both pretty much attached to America's ass cheeks.

Re: Shooter on the loose at MIT...
No, it was the husband who checked the boat. Odd that he needed to use a ladder to climb up and look inside, but the suspect apparently was bleeding wounded and was still able to climb inside the boat without a ladder. However, I read that the suspect hiding in the boat is an amateur wrestler, so it's likely that he has some upper body strength as a result.
Miranda is out as they are questioning him under rules of National Security. Anything that he admits to will not be admissible in the trial, however, the case can be tried strictly on the evidence.
There were three other persons taken into custody and questioned, identified as "associates" of the suspects.

You seem pretty knowledgeable about it. Still, not sure why anyone in other countries would care much beyond studying the ways in which news reporting is changing.

He should be held to collect information and then put on trial.

So glad he has been captured and we can begin to move on from this. Mad props to the law enforcement who worked so tirelessly.

They still moved fast, and you have to admit the pain staking part of finding those photos. It was a great job by everyone and I am glad he was caught. Now we get to learn why they did it. Hopefully we learn something that will help prevent the next one.

Re: Shooter on the loose at MIT...
The police made a few major gaffes.
1) Him getting away last night was the first. That is borderline unacceptable. This 19 year old kid gave 9,000 officers more than they could handle.
2) Setting too small of a perimeter. I mean, what? HOW THE HELL was outside of the initial perimeter they set up? Would have been extremely embarrassing for if he had done anything else.
3) Russia warned the USA in 2011 that the older brother was a nut. At the very least, it should have made him more recognizable in the beginning.
Aside from that, they were impressive. The two nobodies acting alone makes it difficult for the FBI and co. to figure out who they are. Turning to the public makes plenty of sense.
