For Your Consideration

Guardians of the Galaxy

Image

BEST PICTURE
BEST DIRECTOR (JAMES GUNN)
BEST ENSEMBLE
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS
BEST MAKEUP
BEST EDITING
BEST SOUND
BEST COMEDY

"It manages the trick of being both an unironic sci-fi action-adventure flick and a zippy parody of one. It’s exciting, funny, self-aware, beautiful to watch and even, for a flickering instant or two, almost touching."

Washington Post

"Mad, marvellous and all kinds of sci-fi magical, Guardians Of The Galaxy is Marvel’s riskiest but most surprising success yet."

Total Film

"Guardians Of The Galaxy is the most charming Marvel movie so far. The primary ensemble (Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel) is perhaps the most winning group of characters they've introduced in any of these movies."

HitFix

For Your Consideration

Tracks

Image

BEST ACTRESS (MIA WASIKOWSKA)
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY

"The desert trek in Tracks is as brutal as it is beautiful; the performance by Mia Wasikowska as raw as the reality."

Los Angeles Times

"Anchored by a fine and flinty performance from Mia Wasikowska, director John Curran’s gorgeously rendered adventure saga succeeds not only in capturing the harshness and wild beauty of Davidson’s journey, but also in mapping a delicate interior pathway into the heart of this most atypical explorer."

Variety

"For all its simplicity, Tracks the movie is a poignant, deeply emotional story."

Washington Post

"...[John Curran] presents a vision of nature that shimmers with uncanny beauty and eerie solitude, transcended by Mia Wasikowska in one of the best performances of the year."

Boston Globe

"Ultimately it's Wasikowska's performance that captivates. It's oddly compelling — she doesn't say much, and what she does say is usually off-putting. But there is a fierceness in her eyes as she walks, a determination that almost dares you to look away."

Arizona Republic

"Wasikowska is wonderful here, unaffected and affecting, but then she has long been a young actress conveying a rich and shadowy interior life on screen."

Chicago Tribune

Please watch the film before voting!!

For your consideration in the following categories:
BEST ACTRESS, Scarlett Johansson
BEST HORROR FILM OF THE YEAR

I'm not sure I'll include it in Best Horror and I know I won't have room in Best Actress, BUT I believe Jonathan Glazer will be in my #1 spot for Best Director. I think he did a more impressive job than most directors this year. I will also nominate it in other categories as well. Best Cinematography, Editing, Score, Visual Effects, Art Direction, and Sound (easily the most impressive use of sound of the year).

I want to see The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. That really wasn't marketed too well. How the hell did I, a film fan, not know that James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain were in this (which then automatically makes it watchable)?

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION

Rene Russo - Best Supporting Actress for "Nightcrawler"

Image

Kate Hudson - Best Supporting Actress for "Wish I Was Here"

Image

"The movie’s secret weapon, though, is Kate Hudson. This is easily Hudson’s best performance since Almost Famous, and the script paints Sarah as a strong, independent partner instead of a wife who is entirely submissive to her husband’s dream-filled lifestyle. There’s a scene in the middle of the film between Hudson and Patinkin that hits every emotional beat just right." - Adam Chitwood, Collider.com

"Hudson, though in a supporting role, might be doing her finest work since Almost Famous. Her subplot involving harassment at work is played just right and her hospital scene with Patinkin is a true heartbreaker that showcases the capacity of both actors to suggest wells of unspoken emotion and years of pain and frustration as well as love." - Boyd van Hoeij, The Hollywood Reporter

Laura Dern - Best Supporting Actress for "The Fault in Our Stars"

Image

Dern may have earned her Oscar nomination for "Wild," but she's also terrific in "The Fault in Our Stars."

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION - BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

The Way He Looks

Image

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_way ... he%20looks

"Touching and well-acted, Brazil's Best Foreign Film entry is a worthy Oscar candidate." - Liz Beardsworth,
Empire Magazine

We Are The Best!

Image

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/we_are_ ... the%20best

"Captures the dynamics of adolescent friendship to perfection. Funny and full of bluster, it's an exuberant tribute to punk rock spirit, and to the experience of being thirteen."
- Tom Clift, FILMINK (Australia)

"Propelled by its energy and sheer enthusiasm, Lucas Moodysson's film about a would-be teenage punk band is a vibrant shot in the arm. Moodysson captures all the unbridled spirit, optimism and chutzpah of youth and tosses it into the air for us to catch."
- Louise Keller, Urban Cinefile

You should also know there are two ways to watch it: the condensed "Them" version or the "Her"/"Him" double feature.

"Them" combines the two other versions into a single two-hour film.
