Natalie Portman, Best Supporting Actress, Entertainer of the Year
Garden State
"...find the love of his life in a sweet-crazy-sexy, Shins-loving pathological liar named Sam, played by Natalie Portman in a funny and touching performance you shouldn't even try to resist."-Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
"This film showcases another excellent performance by Natalie Portman, a great comic bookend to her great dramatic performance in 'Closer.'"-Robert Roten, Laramie Movie Scope
Closer
"Portman, well, she shines. It's a performance that really does mark her entrance into movie adulthood."-Stephen Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer
"The fact that Ms. Portman's Alice most openly shows her wounds makes the audience feel "safe" in empathizing with her. But the gifted young actress presents a multifaceted portrayal of a hard-edged, hard-living woman."-Philip Wuntch, The Dallas Morning News
"But the real standout is Portman, whose performances continue to get stronger and more mature."-Jeff Vice, Desert Morning News
"Portman almost steals the show. She would have, if Alice were in more scenes and if the screenwriter understood her better. In a sense, Alice is a sketch of a character, but Portman fills her out with her live, intelligent eyes and with a smile that suggests more than mischief, maybe trouble. Portman also goes beyond charm in an excruciating break-up scene, and she carries off a potentially embarrassing strip club scene with admirable self-possession. In their scenes together, she matches Owen, tops him, and makes him top himself."-Mick LaSalle, The San Fransisco Chronicle

"Bryce Dallas Howard gives a breakout performance as a blind girl whose radiant innocence can't hide her independent spirit and scrappy wit." ROLLING STONE
"Bryce Dallas Howard makes a sparkling debut as a blind girl with a sixth sense" EBERT & ROEPER
"...a very fine performance by Howard" DETROIT FREE PRESS

It's really a film that needs to be seen on the big screen (the deep shadows, the score, the cinematography, etc. all contribute to the tone that, in my opinion, really makes the film as much of an experience as it is). If you MUST, though...

I'm against downloading. A lot of people here aren't, but they were on those "part time" moral soapboxes about BKB stealing a review from somebody who had mislead members by creating multiple accounts...
With that said, since WB can't meet the demand of what they should have known was an Oscar winner in the making, then I don't feel sorry for them if overseas movie fans download it. My suggestion is to download and watch it before you turn in your ballot, and then pay to see it on the big screen on March 3rd. It's not really like stealing then, and I'll guarantee you will like it enough to want to have a big screen experience. Seeing it on your computer screen won't ruin that for you.

Thank you for doing a FYC ad of "The Blower's Daughter."
It's a wonderful song, and I was beginning to think it wouldn't receive attention since no one seems to have seen Closer.
