Hmm. So ... I don't really know what to think about this?
Well ... I don't really want to tell this to anyone in real life ... for obvious reasons ... but I figure you guys can discus it with me. I am not embaressed about it or anything .. just try and keep it on the down low.
Anyways ....
So my brother is on probation ... here is the down lo or such ...
He went to school in Alabama, and as a freshman got caught in the doorms with alcohol and weed. He got brought up on possession charges and spent a week or so in jail. He got probation for that.
He then got an Underage in Georgia, and i think a second one after that in a different county. He is on probation in two counties and has two probation officers. He had to go meet his probation officer a few days ago, where he was met with a random drug test, which he failed.
Because of that he now has to turn himself in, and go to jail. For how long ... he doesnt know, and neither do I.
To be honest ... I am not totally sure what he is on probation for. I know it is nothing outside of possesion of weed, or underage drinking (he is 20). No DUI's or anything like that. But I am not totally sure what he got charged with in each incident ... or why he has 2 probation officiers in different counties.
Yep so thats my story, don't feel like telling friends or family, so yeh.

That's retarded.. If he lived in Canada nothing would've happened to him, except that his drugs would be confiscated.
That's so stupid. That can ruin a person's life and it's nothing that is serious.

^^^I agree
Gettin busted bc of weed and beer?
Im sorry man...it must suck
If he does go to jail, i would assume his setence wont be as long as they say,,,,meaning he wont stay in there the whole time. My mom just got out of jail(thank God I live hundreds of miles away and dont have to....take care of it anymore) but she was supposed to be in there for a year for similar charges...she got out in 3 months, and is now in home incarceration thing...

I have no idea how long he will be in for ... a day? a week? a month? no clue as of now.
He has to report tomorrow, so I guess we will find out.

Immediate family knows, but extended does not.
I think its for the best really, my mom loves her family and is pretty close with them, same with my dad, but when it comes to thing like this, it is sometimes best left unsaid.

The 21 drinking age in the US is ridiculous. If you're an adult at 18 enough to go off and get killed for your country, you should be able to buy a damn beer.
But its not easy to tell his age from the first post so I'm assuming he's between 18 and 21.

i guess it depends how close you are. but you shouldn't feel ashamed about this. i mean, it sounds like your brother is a resposnible person who happens to like to escape from time to time.

Indeed. It's like the Prohibition in the USA which caused so much unnecessary damage Archie Gates wrote: The 21 drinking age in the US is ridiculous. If you're an adult at 18 enough to go off and get killed for your country, you should be able to buy a damn beer.
Ridiculous is not even the right word. Try "beyond incredibly stupid".
I am sorry to hear that, Eagle

Artur, the war on drugs is just an extension of the prohibition, really. Before it all the drugs were legal.

In the U.S. for sure; I'm sure other countries didn't have drug laws either.

Hmm. So ... I don't really know what to think about this?
He shouldn't be doing what he did and is paying the price for it now. Should've thought of the consequence of his actions.
My brother been selling weeds in florida. He's smarter then me and should know better but he's doing it for the quick cash.
If he gets caught and ends up in jail then oh freaking well. His life, his action. I'm not gonna waste my time trying to change him. Let the law teach him the lessons.

Well Revolutions ....
I can't really say I disagree with you. I don't think anything in moderation ... including weed ... is bad, but my brother doesn't exactly smoke in moderation.
He doesn't have a drinking problem, but does like to party ... so do I for that matter. He just seems to smoke multiple times a day, and almost has become dependant upon it. The laws in the US are dumb, drinking age should be 18, and pot should be legalized ... two things that in time (though maybe not till the end of my lifetime) I believe will come to pass. Breaking the law was his choice, and he got caught.
Up to that point nothing he did was stupid. However after that, when he continued use knowing full well that he could be subjected at any time to a drug test, was simply idiotic. He may not learn from it, may not be better for it, but I don't fault the law for punishing him.
He is a good kid, and hopefully everything will end up allright for him.

Um...revolutions...
At BOM, I think I recall you fessing up to smoking a bit o' weed...
If that's true, you aren't one to talk.
Plus, smoking cigarettes is just as bad. It smells worse, anyways.

Wow. I completely agree with you, Krem.
The war on drugs is a war on personal freedom.

When I hear of stories like this my blood starts to boil Wow. I completely agree with you, Krem. The war on drugs is a war on personal freedom.
There are many personal freedoms that are against the law; smoking in bars in NYC is one of them. But very few of them actually land you in jail and have the potential to ruin your life. And this is one of the rare cases where I agree that there is definitely a racial bias present.

I must say, Krem, i'm completely stunned by your stance on this issue - in a good way, obviously, but stunned none the less.
