McCartney halftime show still generates FCC complaints
Quote: Complaining viewers were 'bored' with show! This year, Paul McCartney's halftime performance resulted in just two ... by viewers who found the show to be far less titillating than last year's. According to a report on Eonline.com, FCC spokeswoman Rosemary Kimball said both complaints were by viewers who were "bored" by McCartney's 12-minute set, during he which he sang Beatles and Wings classics. Critics seemed to agree. Daily Variety called the show "damage control for last year's Janet Jackson incident," although the Variety did say, "Sir Paul delivered." Other halftime watchers noted that while the Jackson fiasco sent the NFL scrambling, the league apparently had no issues with McCartney singing "Get Back," complete with its references to "California grass" and cross-dressing. According to the report, even when complaints about the commercials were factored into the equation, the FCC still had just 33 to sort through Monday. GoDaddy.com's ad, which featured a buxom model testifying before a Salem panel in a clear send-up of the Jackson incident, prompted eight, more than any other commercial. Five viewers were moved to register their displeasure with Cialis and the "four-hour erection" warning. And three were still so riled up about last year's halftime show, they felt compelled to complain about Jackson again, just for good measure. STORY
well it was kinda boring, but not all of it!
The FCC sucks ass and the people need to quit complaining ](*,)
this is getting pretty ridiculous!
nobody gave a rat ass about this a year ago!! i blame the FCC, Janet Jackson and that Justin!! BASTARDS!!

Paul McCartney sucked. Almost put me to sleep. I turned the channel about 2 minutes into his performance.

I thought McCartney was fine. It was sure nice to see someone actually sing and play their own music for a change. I'd take that over a lip sync dance routine anyday!

What the hell was wrong with it? I loved it. It was a really nice musical performance, and was the only part of the Super Bowl I watched (sorry, just not a football fan, nor a fan of major hype surrounding football). Anybody who complains to the FCC about being bored over what they watched must not see 85% of network television.

I agree with you. Unfortunately it just goes to show how much of an ADD riddled society we live in. Talent alone means nothing these days.

What gets me is that they never had any tasteless "mishaps" like last year, it was the complete opposite, and still people complain. It was a really fun mini-performance. I guess we're forever stuck in a world where rap and hip-hop will rule over real singing.

I thought it was awesome. I'll take talent and entertainment any day over what has been offered in recent years.

I'd see the Beatles over any band out there now... except the Foo Fighters
I think next year should be a Green Day/Foo Fighters halftime show!!!

My complaint isn't that McCartney was bad, but take a look at last year. Besides the much-maligned wardrobe incident, they had a lot of different artists with different music styles on stage and an awesome choreography. I was missing the diversity this year. It was only McCartney, this is what I didn't like about it.

I thought it was great. The only thing that could have made it even better would have been Clapton joining him.
I like the idea of having a few legends jamming together.

That, I would have loved to see, too. Two legends doing a colaboration would have been sweet.
Am I the only one who thought the setup he was playing on was awesome, with the effects going off on the stage..... man, I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
Better than some nasty albino nipple popout.
