Tucker Carlson and Ann Coulter are morons.
http://mediamatters.org/items/200412010011
Here are some lovely quotes, from Ann Coulter and Tucker Carlson, some anti-Canadians:
"COULTER: They better hope the United States doesn't roll over one night and crush them. They are lucky we allow them to exist on the same continent."
"COULTER: We could have taken them [Canada] over so easily.
[ALAN] COLMES: We could have taken them over? Is that what you want?
COULTER: Yes, but no. All I want is the western portion, the ski areas, the cowboys, and the right-wingers."
"ELLIS HENICAN [Newsday columnist]: We share a lot of culture and a lot of interests. Why do we want to have to ridicule them and be deeply offended if they disagree with us?
COULTER: Because they speak French.
COLMES: There's something else I want to point out about the French. Is it's fashionable again on your side to denounce the French.
COULTER: We like the English-speaking Canadians."
"CARLSON: Without the U.S., Canada is essentially Honduras, but colder and much less interesting."
CARLSON: [A]bsolutely the countries will remain allies and there will always be politicians who see it to their benefit to stomp on Bush dolls [referring to action taken by Parrish]. But no, I don't think the average Canadian feels -- the average Canadian is busy dogsledding."
"CARLSON: Canada's essentially -- essentially a made-in-Taiwan version of the United States."
Okay, clearly these idiots want to sound unique because, oh boy, they can bash Canadians, and still keep their trusty news anchor/political talk show jobs. Without such a large unique trait, these people would be, oh I don't know, BLAND. They fear being bland, so they make some bold statements. Hey, everyone wants to be noticed! Especially Tucker Carlson. If anyone doesn't know about this CNN former Crossfire co-host (he now hosts his own show on PBS), just do a Google Image search, and you'll see this guy is nothing more than a whiny debator, with one big difference between him and oh-so many others: a bowtie.
They did have a few decent points, like how the US does help out Canada a lot, but their clear lack of caring or knowledge of Canada baffles me. Clearly, they are not serious when they say all we do is dogsled, but they're so quick to denounce us for not learning more about Americans and the American politics, when all they can do is rely on old, dumb jokes, about igloos, moose, eskimos, and a generally colder climate. I guarantee you that Canadians know more about Americans than Americans know about us.
We're lucky that they announce us to exist on the same continent? That has to go up there in the biggest moronic statements of 2004 (this was from November 30th). Clearly, that's a showing of how certain Americans have a large ego. Ann Coulter is one of these Americans. Then, they say that they can take us over, then says that she would just want to keep some parts intact. Somehow, you just can't take her seriously, after that.
And finally, Ann Coulter's hatred for the French, which comes out when one of her many moronic answers is "Because they speak french." She apparently only likes the "English-speaking" Canadians. God, at this point, I can't say much more. I remember hearing about this a few months ago, and didn't know much about it. The America vs. Canada war has waged on long enough, and I really have always wanted to stay out of it because it's usually filled with some pretty dumb arguments. But to hear reputable news anchors/talk show hosts saying just filth is beyond moronic. It's disrespectful. They shouldn't be allowed their cushy jobs at CNN. It's more than obvious these people are thumbtacks in a box of 1000, and they need to stand out, so they need to make some bold statements.
Anyone got some views on this? No matter if you love us or hate us, I think seeing reputable people make baseless statements like that deserves some feedback.

Yeah, Coulter and Carlson make a living out of being the stupidest people on the face of the earth. Don't let this stuff bother you, X. Outside of their hard right community, these people are laughing stocks.

Well, doh!
Of course Ann Coulter's a jerk. You've GOTTA read up on the stuff she's written about Joseph McCarthy. She goes out of her limited capability in research to defend the guy.
And, although this was taken from Michael Moore's book (or, it mighta been Al Franken's), you might find it funny anywho: Coulter claims "liberals" (even though she means democrats and there isn't an exact relationship b/w the two words) only have one defense: calling Republicans idiots. However, her book uses "idiot" to describe these "liberals" very very frequently.

It's from Fanken's book, which completely and utterly rips her to shreds.

And he does a mighty fine job at it too. Seriously, even if you're a Republican, can you honestly refute the chapter on her inability to research and cite properly?

It's not that it bothers me, but ... I got nothing better to complain about tonight.

CNN obviously doesn't have any confidence in Carlson's credibility anymore. By any other fragrance, he couldn't draw flies.
It has been said that RW demagogues are losing their audience (especially on radio) because they have nothing to rail against anymore. After all, Dubya is giving them the America they want.
This is probably true... which explains the growing popularity of Air America.

What if he mounted her, and they produced an offspring (assuming she's not a he disguised as a she. like Dame Edna, who is a he, believe it or not [I did not until I was proven wrong])?
I think the result would be a stupid man.
Or another stupid man.
Maybe two stupid people, like twins, but stupid. Stupid twins, you know? Ideologically speaking, of course.
See where I'm going with this?
They'd be having fun with Dick and Bush, and the result could well be a Dick and a Bush.

Yay! You called her an idiot! (where's the J, you immoral Russian...)
I read the book in which she defends McCarthy and goes on about the Verona Files/Cables. It was an utter waste of time. I mean, she can't criticize him AT. ALL. It was hardly enough, though, to prove that he was right about one thing. And, most people critique him for the manifestation of the policies and the hypocrisy present, not because of the statement.
She's as bad as Moore.

The problem is, most people assume that because McCarthy used the tactics that he did that he was wrong. He wasn't. He was an asshole, but not wrong.
and yeah, Coulter is an idiot still, I'm not defending her.

Again you forget the J in idiot! Damnit, Krem. It's your trademark, for Christ's sake!
He wasn't wrong about his "statement" (well. not entirely wrong), but, the tactics he did use WERE wrong. He was wrong to instill that type of fear in our minds!

I can't even look at Coulter without destroying my veins.
Carlson, well, he's a whimp. He's moderate on the slightly-left PBS and a flaming Republican when he feels safe with other Republicans. He'll say whatever pleases the people he's with. What I DON'T like about Tucker Carlson is that he has ZERO experience to be talking the way he does. The only background I can find is that he went to college for journalism and covered the police beat in Little Rock for four years. How did he make the leap from the police beat in Little Rock to being an on-air star? :-s

He may be a whiny debator, who only got his job, cause... know why? His dad used to work for CNN. Aww daddy, you got me the job?! Yay!!! But, I'll give it to him that he's smart. He said that "Canadians are easily wounded", which pretty much means he must be right, since I spoke out against his moronic statements. Doesn't stop me from saying what an idiot he is.
*venting over, meltdown averted... have a nice day!*
