 The Astrology Thread
What do you guys think about it?
I've been fascinated by some of the stuff it can accurately explain. From character traits to relationships. either that or im wayyyyy too obsessed with before sunset. (you know that short conversation about god and how it ends up in astrology).

I totally believe in it, and its very accurate, and describes you as a person so incredibly. I am amazed by how accurate they can be, and I always read my horoscope everyday. Chinese Signs are also very interesting, and just as accurate as the typical Zodiac signs. The different between the two is Chinese Signs determine what sign you are by year, and the regular zodiac signs do it by months. You can read about your Chinese Sign here http://www.c-c-c.org/chineseculture/zodiac/zodiac.html, just click on all of the animals until you find one that has the year you were born in. I am an Ox.
I agree with you Rod a lot of the stuff they explain are very accurate, its almost scary.

I don't believe in it at all.
But lately I've had this strange curiousity as to whether Cancer and Leo go together.

I love stars and moons and planets!!!!!
I mean, like, ever since we went to Mars theres been a huge facisnation with this subject!! Everyone wants to know, is there life on other planets? How was the universe created? Will we ever reach the end of the universe?
Thats why this subject is so fun..cause we will never know!

Everything goes with everything. Hehe. Just some things go better together.
Interestingly enough, even since before i cared about astrology i find that ive always been attracted to cancers and libras. Not physically attracted (necessarily) but when it comes to actually enjoying being around someone and enjoying their company and liking them more than just someone who's good looking or whatever, they always seem to beat everyone, for me. Cancers more so. Libras can be frustrating cause often they are incapable of showing even the slightest sign of any kind of emotion...which doesnt go well with..uh...a scorpio. hehe
And in fact apparantly A scorpio and cancer is the best match you could make. Ever. Out of all the signs. So astrology does seem to back that up.

Very odd, I am a cancer, and you don't like me very much.
I've been in relationships, but they have never worked out, and I have never tried seeking a Scorpio. Maybe that is why I have so many failed relationships, who knows.

Completely meaningless. Hogwash. What have you. I mean, I was born August 15th so I'm a Leo, but my personality is the anti-Leo.
The extent to which some people hold credence in astrology sometimes baffles me. I mean, of course it's gonna be dead-on sometimes, but that doesn't nullify the numerous times it's off. The one guy I've ever dated (for about 2 days, bah) was way into it. Perhaps I should've taken that as a sign that he was definitely not my type.
I hope my honesty doesn't offend anyone. It's just that I hold less faith in astrology than I do in religion, and that's saying something.

. I must have been thinking about The Longest Yard or something when I was typing that. And yes, I did like that episode. It seemed to take a different path than previous "Future Simpsons" episodes. It was more satire (The invention of magic, the 1st hovercar, etc.) than cheap jokes about how "wacky" the characters have become in the future (Except for Vice President Cletus)

But what's so hard to believe about the idea that constellations of stars, some of which may no longer exist or be in the same relative position as their light normally takes billions of years to get here, and which are only this "constellation" because of the angle which we view them from due to the relative position in the universe of these stars and earth, dictate that the same vague thing "could" happen to one-twelfth of the population during a thirty-day period? This thing never fails. I've been so scared shitless by the thought of some eclipse somewhere that I've been FORCED to reassess my finances over the next few weeks. Oh, what's that? Lucky numbers are 32 and 51? I'm supposed to take the 54 bus today to get to work on time but MY GOD here comes bus number 32 and I'm in the mood for a bit of luck. Thank you, Astrolady. The only horoscopes I believe in are from The Onion. These are truly words to live your life by:
Aries: (March 21â€â€April 19) When choosing a pet this week, make sure it's one your friends approve of, as it'll outlive you by at least a dozen years.
Taurus: (April. 20â€â€May 20) You'll enter into local-legend status this week when, wandering on an important personal quest, you become the Flying Dutchman of your local big-box stores.
Gemini: (May 21â€â€June 21) You'll enter the record books in style, better than tripling Roy Sullivan's old mark of being struck by lightning an amazing seven times.
Cancer: (June 22â€â€July 22) Although circumstances will force you to take a menial job requiring a nametag, it will not lead to anyone knowing your name.
Leo: (July 23â€â€Aug. 22) Although you've always worried about dying alone and unloved, you can put your mind at ease: A tragic mix-up at the pheromone lab will lead to your being loved to death by nine separate species.
Virgo: (Aug. 23â€â€Sept. 22) The stars would love to take credit for guiding you to your fated destiny, but Occam's Razor and plain common sense point toward your turning into a colossal asshole.
Libra: (Sept. 23â€â€Oct. 23) There are many possible fates in store for you this week, but they all seem to involve you standing rain-drenched and shoeless at the side of a major interstate highway, cursing single men everywhere.
Scorpio: (Oct. 24â€â€Nov. 21) You will soon come to symbolize the world's increasingly cold and callous nature when your death is used to demonstrate the impact-resistant grill of the new Ford 500 sedan.
Sagittarius: (Nov. 22â€â€Dec. 21) You never wondered what would happen if all those big glass skyscraper windows fell to the sidewalk at once, but you'll soon be able to satisfy the curiosity of those who have.
Capricorn: (Dec. 22â€â€Jan. 19) To your vast surprise and that of marine biologists worldwide, you'll discover that you play a vital role in the 30-year mating cycle of the limpet shark.
Aquarius: (Jan. 20â€â€Feb. 18) There is no medical proof that chemical castration helps to prevent serial double-parking, but where you're concerned, the traffic court isn't taking any chances.
Pisces: (Feb. 19â€â€March 20) There will be little change in your uneventful life this week, which is too bad considering you've been hanging from those manacles for a couple decades now.

Well, geez, if there are bound to be exceptions, of what use is astrology? "This will predict what kind of person you are very exactly, but there are bound to be exceptions." Huh?
No wonder people believe this stuff if they are given ways out like that. If the description fits their idea of what someone's personality is like, it's accurate and therefore true and if it doesn't then it's an "exception" but it's still true. You can't lose!
