Ryan Seacrest Gets Star on Walk of Fame
LOS ANGELES - The host of "American Idol" has become an idol himself.

Ryan Seacrest was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Wednesday in a ceremony attended by his Fox TV colleagues, "Idol" judges Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell.
"Listen, Simon," Jackson said to Cowell during their ceremonial speech. "What would we say about this day?"
"Ill-deserved," the famously grumpy Cowell replied, dryly. "I cannot believe that April the 20th is going to be Ryan Seacrest Day. I am officially taking this day off my diary."
Seacrest, 30, a 15-year radio veteran, confessed, "I remember getting up this morning at 3:30 a.m. on my way in to do the morning show, and I thought, `One person is going to come today.' ... I thought this would be the most unpopular star dedication ever."
After the ceremony Seacrest told AP Television News, "I actually thought it was a joke when I heard that they were going to do this."

I am shocked. This guy isn't even an actor, all he did was have a show that got cancelled because of poor ratings, which speaks volumes about him. And he hosts American Idol. It seems like your qualifications don't have to be all that impressive to recieve one of these stars. My cat kills flies and eats them, why don't we honor him with a star?

Um, it's not like there's some institute that recognizes people in the entertainment industry...
It's all done by the agents. Back, say, 50 years ago - the stars were awarded. Now, you can pretty much buy one if you have the right agent.

Good for him.
Come on. You people know you would take no matter how little you did to earn it.
I would. I would be thankful. I would appreciate my star of accomplishment.
Torrino is also correct. Back in the 50's for example, it was quite the accomplishment. You had to be of star quality for the time, quite recognized, and put in your time (in many cases, years).

I have a lot of respect for Seacrest, he does a lot. Not just for television. There was one time between radio and TV that he was on the air for about 35 hours a day. That's not even possible. But, a star THIS early in his career? What, is he going to die soon? 40... 50 maybe. Not too much pathetic, just a little too early in his career, especially being only majorly a radio personality before 2002.

Does anyone know if Paula, Randy, and Simon have stars too yet?
I believe Paula does, but am not sure about the others. Correction: Never Mind. Paula does have one. The other two do not.
Here is the complete list of who is on it.
http://www.hollywoodusa.co.uk/walkoffameindex.htm#F.
The way this works out is a little goofy. For example, Snow White is listed. No Cinderella though.
No Janet. Both Jack and Chrissy listed, but Janet gets left out yet again. Just like the show.

She probably turned it down, just like Madonna.
Uhhh...not only actors get stars. not like it matters really.
He's a big celebrity. Wether its through merit, or just being lucky, or whatever.

Oh for heaven sakes.. This has to be one of the most ridiculous reasons to give a person a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.. At this point, any one of us could get a goddamn star on the walk for a price$$$$.....

Once again: Why is this on the news?
I can imagine CNN being like this:
Headline:
"Ryan Seacrest has just got a Star on Walk of the Fame!"
"And in other news, famine and genocide continue all around the world! More at 11."
