I figured the phone book would double as Kentucky's sex offender registry and list of prisoners, but it looks like they have a web site too.

Oh, and keep in mind that link above is only for prison records. It would not show if somebody was in the county jail on a lower (misdemeanor) offense.

OK I'm about to say something unpopular, but this is not about this case in particular, about the system in general.

This is an interesting subject to me because if you think about it, we all know the justice system is flawed, we all know that a certain percentage of people in prison are not guilty of the crimes they committed. Even if that is just 3% that is thousands of people.

So what I'm getting at, put yourself in the shoes of someone who was wrongly accused and convicted, maybe they pled guilty to avoid something worse even though they were innocent, that happens more often than we'd like to think about.

At what point do they stop paying their debt to society? Isn't it fair that there should be some point at which the system lets loose their grip on them?

I can see the concerns of parents and such about wanting a registry of offenders and if I'm ever a parent I will probably feel some of that desire to track people. But is it fair to not have a point at which these people have paid their debt to society?

What gives you that idea we don't have the right? I say the Government has the right to kill whoever it wants or invade the privacy of whoever it wants.

I think the two recent cases that occurred where children were killed by registered sex offenders really proves there is a need for a system like this. In both cases the police were able to quickly track down and arrest the suspects - largely due to them being on the list. If having a registry saves just 1 or 2 kids lives (and I feel it's saved many more), I say it is worth it.

People aren't scared of going to prison? And yes, they need basic human rights, not sadistic torture. They ARE still human beings. My mom was raped, and later nearly beaten to death (she died less then a year later from the permanent injuries). The people that did these should go to jail for life, but they should not be tortured to death. If I did that, I'd be just as bad as they are, and I am a mature enough human being to realize this. And why would we put our morals aside? How is this anything but a moral argument? As for your comment about the govenrment having the right to kill anyone it wants and go as far into our personal lives it wants, well god damn, you're not only one of the cruel and sadistic people to come onto the site in some time, you're also one of the most idiotic. I honestly would not be surprised if you were considerably mentally handicapped. If so, shame on me for arguing with someone who doesn't know any better. If not, then my prayers go out to your family and friends for having to deal with someone as sick, twisted and moronic as yourself.

Actually, I dont want to kill people who are insane and mentally unstable, but just make them not go to therapy and stuff. Also; people who do crimes do not deserve freedom. They are nothing. Yes, we should. It's time to stop being so merciful on these criminals. But we will only kill them if we SEE him/her do it. For example if it is caught on tape/caught on the stop/10 unbiased witnesses/etc. If it goes to trial and say it is circumstantial (?) evidence, then no, they will not be gassed (although I prefer the oven or fire).
