Re: Alan Rickman Dies at 69 I believe Disney was different because that was his name on the products, because he hosted his World of Disney in our homes on television (so did Hitchcock, though not the same world!), and because the average person did indeed love Disneyland. You should know on his passing that there was tremendous doubt about the future of The Magic Kingdom. The construction of Pirates of the Caribbean wasn't finished, and some of us really did wonder if the park was about to end.

Spielberg has created the face of cinema as it is today. You can argue Scorsese, Coppola, Lucas. Even Tarantino and Cameron. But not Spielberg. He is the one director that even if you hate film, you know him by name, and like at least one movie he made.

Re: Alan Rickman Dies at 69 I hope that this past week is not a foreshadowing of what is to come this year.
There are so many of our treasured artists, in film and in music, who are getting on in years, and I just do not see anyone to replace them. Very few.

I know your role on WoKJ is largely one of a contrarian Algren but trust us, the world will lose its collective mind when Spielberg dies, hopefully many many many years from now.
