Giving Loyal a run for his money
After a month furiously finishing travel plans, college applications and social needs, I'm preparing to take off on my big adventure. A lot of the excitement is naturally from the concept of globe hopping, but I am also excited to unplug myself from my various vices. A digital camera will be the only electronic device I bring - why look at screens? I have no intention of having a cell phone either, I believe they are constricting and snuff out personal independence. Books, lots of books, and a daily journal will be my companions.
First I'm off to Guatemala, where I know not the language nor anyone else. Hopefully by the end of a three week homestay learning Spanish at a university in the city of Antigua I'll have a strong enough grasp of the language for my next two months. These will mostly be spent at an animal rescue center in El Peten, Guatemala's biggest jungle. Next to a lake and close to some awesome Mayan ruins, I'll be working with ARCAS rehabilating poached animals (including toucans, spider and howler monkeys, ocelots and more) to go back out into the wild. After three months I'll land in Antananarivo, Madagascar, where I'll make my way across the country to reach the southwestern coast. There I'll be spending my days scuba diving in coral reefs with BlueVentures. The final leg of my trip takes me to Israel, where I'll rendezvous with some friends to wander across the country, and maybe even make a trip into Egypt to see Cairo, Sinai, pyramids etc.
I'll be returning June 9th, where I'll spend the summer reflecting and preparing for college in the fall. It elates me to no end to have not gone straight to college this year. Not only do I believe University of Oregon would've been a poor choice, but this way I will have completed an incredible journey with only my wits and the most essential of supplies. Take care everyone!

Best wishes in your adventures, Dude... if ya ever get in a pinch, just remember The Core for inspiration. (As to your thread title, my bet is that your experience will be a dozen times richer than any that loyal's pampered ass has ever had... )

Pfft, like you could ever compete with Loyal.
