 Re: NBA 2012-13 Season
Harden will be an MVP contender IMO. Houston had an amazing offseason getting him and a franchise PG/C, both Lin and Asik are for real. If they sign Josh Smith or trade for Granger/Gay they'll be legit

Did OKC call anybody else? That package looks awfully weak now. Could have gotten Waiters, Varejao, Daniel Gibson's expiring contract and a future #1. Just saying...

 Re: NBA 2012-13 Season
I like how good the Celtics make the Wizards appear to be. Then again I can't really complain. If you're a Lakers fan you at least have a knot in your stomach right now with how they've opened up the season. They're too talented not to turn it around, but this will be fun for however long it lasts.

 Re: NBA 2012-13 Season
It was a terrible hire in the first place. Mike Brown does not know how to coach offense, nor how to control divas, which the Lakers have alot of.

 Re: NBA 2012-13 Season
Mike Brown is a def coach, always will be, he never should have been a head coach and just happened to be in the right place at the right time with James...
Honestly James and CLE might have won at least 1 champ without Brown pushing his anti offense all defense all the time BS. Just look at James now, its all about teachers

 Re: NBA 2012-13 Season
The Cavs always came out lame in the fourth quarter. If it wasn't for back to back ridiculous games by Lebron James and Daniel Gibson they would have never made the finals.

Way to not overreact Lakers!
They must have Jackson or someone else good on their on-deck circle because this would just be an irrational move otherwise.

 Re: NBA 2012-13 Season
So I think that the Lakers obviously made the right move, but I wonder if the Triangle is the best system for Dwight. I actually think Mike D'Antoni would be a better hire (offensive guru, and who needs defense when you have Dwight back there?)

Mike D is the best choice. Because Nash.

 Re: NBA 2012-13 Season
Lakers get Mike D'Antoni. Four year deal.
I wonder how much truth there was to the Jackson rumors. Just tonight Sportscenter made a big deal about Jackson and the Lakers coming to an agreement on how he would run the team and how much control he would have. Either there wasn't any smoke and he's just happy as can be retired or talks quickly broke down. My guess is that there wasn't enough to get him out of retirement.
As for D'Antoni, good choice to run the offense. The Lakers are going to be shit on defense though. It seems like the perfect recipe to run through the regular season, get the one or two seed, and then get knocked out in the second round.

The Suns did OK in the playoffs. And they didn't have Howard. The Lakers will be fine.

Magnus wrote: People act as if D'Antoini didn't lead the Suns to three conference finals and that the Suns were utterly screwed in one of them and should have won that series (2007). Back when they had a younger Nash and a younger Shaq. This team has the younger Shaq in Howard, but Nash didn't even make it out of the first five games this season without an injury and there's still 75 games left in the regular season for Kobe to do even worse damage to his heel. And Howard could always re-aggravate his back again. Admittedly there are quite a few "if's" on my part, but this Lakers team isn't getting any younger.

 Re: NBA 2012-13 Season
35 points/18 rebounds, 11 offensive/3 assists, no turnovers/2 steals for Anderson Varejo. His trade value just shot through the roof. Kyrie had an almost as impressive game. Yet the Cavs still lose. Its amazing that after all the hate, they've become a poor man's Miami Year One. Two all stars and nothing else around them.

 Re: NBA 2012-13 Season
Would love to see a Heat-Grizzlies Finals. Grizzlies right now have a legit chance to be mid 2000s Pistons by contending without a superstar
Knicks are definitely a mirage. They have a chance at 50 Ws but aren't legit contenders like the Griz
