Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
So... if we still had the BCS system... would Florida State be #3? And would the world fucking EXPLODE if they were left out of the BCS Championship while being undefeated?

I think the outrage would be very similar to '04 when Auburn went undefeated, but got left out - a 1-loss Oklahoma played USC for the title ....... and got destroyed.

I don't think so. The computers always put a preference on undefeated teams from the power conferences. They'd at least be #2 no matter what if they were undefeated.

No. OU was undefeated that year until the disgusting blowout by USC. It was 2003 when OU lost to KSU in the big 12 champ game but still played in the national championship game.

Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
Alabama fights back to win a shoot out over Auburn. Oregon blows out OSU. Florida State squeak sout another win. I think they could have problems with Georgia Tech. Miss. St is done and looks like TCU will move up. Ohio St. has problems with their qb done for the year. Next week should decide a lot.

Michigan and Florida are no both coach-less.
I think Michigan is a SLIGHTLY better job. But not by much.

Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
I would still put FSU third. Both Oregon and Alabama look like much better teams and have beaten better teams. Florida State really only has beaten mediocre Clemson and Louisville. also Winston isn't as good as last year he has thrown way too many INTs which is why he won't be the top 5 at the Heisman ceremony.

Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
It's pretty obvious that the committee is trying to set up the matchup with the most money potential: Alabama/FSU for Sugar Bowl and Oregon in LA.
I wonder what would have happened if Mississippi State had won this past weekend. Given that'd be on the road against their biggest rival (ranked as well), can't imagine they will get demoted to 5th, so would FSU be bumped then?

Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
I'm sure most CFB fans wouldn't mind FSU being left out for MissSt... but as someone who wants the best 4 teams, I would be livid.
FSU needs to be in there. Winning is winning is winning.

Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
I personally don't mind seeing TCU over Baylor even though they lost the head-to-head match. After all, that game was on the road and they lost only by 3 (after leading by 21 with 8m to go); in Vegas term, that's essentially a push. For the rest of their respective resume, TCU does look a tad more impressive.

Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
At the end of the season, though, if Baylor and TCU have the same record... I think Baylor should be in. Because technically they're the Big 12 Champs.

Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
Yeah there will be controversy if Baylor is left out and has the same record as TCU. Really in the end we are headed for a 8 team playoff where all 5 conferences get an automatic bid.

This Baylor/TCU thing will force them to expand the playoff to 8 teams next season

Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
I don't suspect that to happen that quickly. But it is going to happen, especially considering the money involved. And with it the bowls are going to start to die a slow death. Back to this weekend, Oregon looked really impressive last night. Mariotta has the Heisman and the Ducks should be the 2 seed at worst. If Alabama struggles at all, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Ducks #1.

Oh man this is going to be a clusterfuck.
I think they'll rank it, Bama/Oregon/FSU/OhioState

Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
Ohio State. I don't know. TCU did have three close calls on the road. They had a loss to Baylor. They had the best loss. TCU or Baylor played a common opponent with Ohio St in Minnesota and one of them crushed MN. It was at home while Ohio St's was on the road. Then it also comes down to which team was the better conference. Eh, I would have preferred TCU just because they are balanced on both sides of the ball but Ohio State's final win being a shutout was certainly a emphatic statement. A part of me wonders if WI just laid down for the good of the conference.

Re: 2014 NCAA Sports Discussion
Well it might make the Big 12 create a championship game. It is stupid they don't' have one. However, I don't like Ohio State's chances against Alabama. And I think Oregon is a bad match up for Florida State. Florida State's rushing defense is awful and Oregon is the best rushing team in the country. It will be a shootout and Oregon always wins those.

TCU and Baylor are both better than Ohio State.

I think Ohio State earned it over TCU and Baylor even if the other two were better, they straight eviscerated Wisconsin. Big 12 needs a championship game pronto.
