It is based on the novel of the same name by Sally Thorne, and stars Lucy Hale and Austin Stowell in the lead roles. It was released in theaters and video on demand on December 10, 2021, by Vertical Entertainment. The film received generally positive reviews from critics.

Re: The Hating Game The movie has great energy and the two leads play each other well. Having said that the beginning is rough with lots of cliches but once they get together the things thrown at the couple are great specially the family weekend. The finale is predictable but I would be happy to see continuation of this story.

Re: The Hating Game I was trying to get into romance novels a few years ago to see if I take to them more than actual respected novels which I barely ever read, and this was the one I picked

Re: The Hating Game I'm a sucker for a good romantic comedy and this was delightful. Funny, sweet and sexy. Lucy Hale and Austin Stowell have great chemistry and they're the main reason it works so well. Would absolutely recommend to fans of rom-coms.
