Emily Blunt's great work, beautiful backdrops and some good character development are not enough to save this undecided mess of a script and uneven direction. Emily Blunt and surprisingly Dornan both do great work, their final 30 minutes of banter brings out great chemistry between the two. The older supporting cast lead by Christopher Walken are good here but Jon Hamm's character is so thinly written it ruins the entire movie, though Hamm finally delivers a sane comedy proving that he can act at times.

The finale is also way too long and there is really no conflict in this movie so it just wanders around will-they-won't-they play and unconvincingly throws kiss, commitment related issues to the finale. The very nice end is great and it's lovely to see Blunt kook so gorgeous in these settings.

C+
