Post Re: Shelter (2014)
Starts brilliantly as a character study of a homeless migrant but then comes Connelly and the scripts throws these characters into situations that just feel like "why now?" and are these even real people. Paul Bettany does really well as a director but he is unable to give any emotional depth to the characters and their action in his writing. Instead of making them fall in love there were so many paths of compassion, betrayal that this could have explored but drills down into physical abuse these characters suffer rather than exploring why they choose this lifestyle. Its very well acted specially by Mackie while Connelly does good as well. The supporting cast isn't given much to do here which is fine.
