This has all the ingredients to be good but the unfocused and generic execution makes this yet another lifetime movie than something that stands out of the crowd. The three leads do well to carry this movie but the emotional stakes are never built enough to earn the ending. Everything is resolved with relative ease here and the cultural appropriation that they try to inject does not gel well with the themes of the movie.
