Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge is a 2020 American direct-to-video adult animated martial arts film based on the Mortal Kombat franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. It is the first Mortal Kombat based property to be produced at Warner Bros. Animation after its parent company acquired the franchise in 2009 from Midway Games, and the first Mortal Kombat animated project since the 1996 animated series Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, featuring co-creator Ed Boon involved as creative consultant. The film centers around the titular character seeking his revenge on those who murdered his family and clan after being resurrected by Quan Chi, while Liu Kang, Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage are chosen to participate on the Mortal Kombat tournament for the fate of Earthrealm.

The film was released on April 14, 2020 on digital, and is set to be followed on April 28, 2020 for 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray releases

I caught this yesterday as Mortal Kombat will always have a special place with me being the only action video game I played as a child.

This was a blast, along with seeing all the legends this has a great story along with it even though cliched. The choreography and action scenes are great specially loved the stop-motion style with jaws and teeth breaking. The gore is perfect for this kind of movie and the stop-motion scenes enhance the overall experience. The final twist was sort of crappy and it gets unnecessarily convoluted in the end but overall it was a great experience to see all these legends back in action. Johnny Cash was awesome and I wished they did a bit more with Raiden's character. Scorpion's arc is done very well though Sub-zero is mostly wasted in here.

The action and quick pace is what keeps this floating and of-course seeing all these characters in action after so long.

Yeah I really enjoyed this as well. Scorpion was just insanely badass throughout, especially in the opening battle and that badass finale. Loved the animation too even if it was a little rough in some parts and I pray that we got more MK animated movies in the future. With the way they pump all those DC animated movies maybe we can get a sequel as soon as sometime next year, but with all that's going on right now who knows.

B+

Absolutely loved the animation in Scorpion's Revenge. They took what works on Castlevania and added life to it. It is brutal, but never wears you out with the violence. When Scorpion cuts people up, their severed limbs look like something you'd find in a meat market. And my goodness, the signature X-Ray vision kills... As glorious as the are in the games (Injustice does them too, though obviously toned down for the kiddies.)

As for the actual story - Eh? It's a remake of the first Mortal Kombat, with Scorpion as an anti-hero instead of a boss fight. The dialogue is very generic (you will die for that! is said more than a few times) and in a normal movie would probably sink the entire enterprise. But here, it is just a means to an ends to get back to the bone shattering action.

Overall, highly recommend for any fans of the series ... or creative violence in general. B+

I didn't like the sequel , Battle of the Realms, as much. Needed more Scorpion in the main plot. Still better than the live action movie though. C
