Quote:
Polaroid is an American supernatural horror film directed by Lars Klevberg, based on his 2015 short film of the same name.

High school loner Bird has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the vintage Polaroid camera she stumbles upon, but it does not take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic ending.

Post Re: Polaroid
This could have been an effective horror for the ages. It has a creepy silhouette, an even creepier noise, and a legit back story, not to mention a clear horror concept, but it is ruined by split-second shots (where you never really see enough to be scared) and truly awful and unneeded visual effects. By the time we see the Skeletor-like Slender Man thing we're bored by the film and then unimpressed by his appearance. It's a generic horror in many ways. Everywhere is dimly lit, even diners and hospitals, and there's always someone that thinks it's all bullshit and takes some convincing, but this is standard horror stuff which, if the rest worked, would be blissfully ignored. There are some promising set pieces, such as the first kill where the ghoul is covered by a white sheet, and the second kill of the party host in the living room, but they are plagued by the aforementioned issues.

Yeah this definitely had potential. It's a very slickly made film with some good creepy atmosphere, and IMO a pretty effective ghostly antagonist. That sound it made it everytime was pretty unnerving and I liked how you didn't always get a good look at it for the first half, but its all pretty much ruined by just how standard and uninspired the rest of it is. At the end of the day its just another generic, PG-13 horror film with some cool ideas and neat touches here and there, but nothing that makes up for just how much it fails to deliver in the end which is the most disappointing/frustrating thing about it.
