The good news: I saw it for free and Stan Lee has two funny scenes.

The bad news: Everything else.

It’s fitting that the two best scenes in the film feature Marvel’s Stan Lee. Somehow Marvel one-upped DC in their own movie, and DC allowed it.

You know, I always thought people were exaggerating when they said a movie gave them a headache. While I know for the most part that’s probably true, I now know they aren’t all lying. It’s loud, obnoxious, and worst of all, not funny. Just being self-aware doesn’t equal funny. You have to actually create jokes in order to be funny. This barely even tries, and when it tries, it didn’t even work on the kids in my audience. Kids love poop and diarrhea jokes, don’t they? Do I even want to mention the Michael Bolton song that sounds like it was rejected from The LEGO Movie. And then they run over his character and run away. It’s hilarious!

This movie probably wasn’t for me to begin with, but I like DC and I thought it had the potential to be cute. It isn’t and I was wrong.

Although fans of the show should be pleased to hear that this is apparently part one of something (or at least the credits tease was) that will be concluded on the TV show.
