Quote:
The Peanuts Movie, known in some countries as Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie, is a 2015 American 3D computer-animated comedy film produced by Blue Sky Studios and distributed by 20th Century Fox based on Charles M. Schulz's comic strip Peanuts. The film is directed by Steve Martino and written by Craig and Bryan Schulz, (Schulz's son and grandson, respectively) and Cornelius Uliano, and features the voices of Noah Schnapp and Bill Melendez (via archival recordings). It is the fifth full-length feature film to be based on the comic, and the first feature film based on the characters in 35 years. It commemorates the 65th anniversary of the comic strip and 50th anniversary of the TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas, and was released on November 6, 2015. The film sees Charlie Brown go on a life-changing quest.

A charming, if minor cinematic revival of pensive comic-strip hero Charlie Brown, his loyal-mischievous dog Snoopy, and their mob of pint-sized suburban friends. The film is deeply unadventurous, which is both a shade deflating and very reassuring: it blends nearly every character, dynamic, etc. we remember and love from the strip and the seasonal television specials into a swiftly paced hour-and-a-half ride. The animation is of the big-budget and digital variety, but tasteful and designed to recall the pencil-and-paper realm from which these characters spring. The storytelling is distractible and lightweight, but heartfelt. Only infrequent eruptions of ebullient, generic radio pop by Meghan Trainor truly register as anachronistic.

Oh, and I feel a bit of a grouch saying it, but the flying-ace subplot became a bit dull and repetitive for me. It does give the film big-screen-friendly swirls of action and spectacle, though.

Good ol' Charlie Brown!

I absolutely loved the animation, first off. And while the story was a very traditional Peanuts story, it being kept simple and sweet was the best route to go. I very much enjoyed it.

A story that kept the usual Peanuts' charm. A rewarding film for those who grew up with the characters and it seems like a great way to get a new generation into them as well.

This was very enjoyable and funny, but it lacked anything that would ever make it worth revisiting. Much better than The Good Dinosaur, though.
