Re: The Browning Version (1994)
Albert Finney plays Andrew Crocker-Harris, an old, unpopular public school teacher of ancient classic literature who is told by the school administration to retire. Once seen as a resigned character seemingly indifferent to his surroundings (people and places), Crocker-Harris finds his second coming of age when a pupil of his after-class tutoring gives him a book as a thank-you gift before his retirement. He finally shows his personable side.
Great movie. Because of the not-by-the-book-obvious characterization of the teacher and Finney's perfect portrayal.
