Re: The Adderall Diaries
This is a thoroughly mediocre movie that has no idea what it wants to say or accomplish during its brief but seemingly endless 86-minute runtime. The characters and their motivations make no sense and it feels like large chunks of the film ended up on the cutting room floor. Ed Harris is actually quite good given the material he's working with in a strong supporting turn, but James Franco mostly sleepwalks through this and Amber Heard is hilariously miscast as an investigative journalist. There's also a random, terribly acted subplot with Christian Slater that ends up going nowhere and adds very little to the movie as a whole. I can't see this finding a big distributor, let alone getting a lot of acclaim when it is eventually released. C-
