Narc is a 2002 American crime thriller film written and directed by Joe Carnahan and starring Ray Liotta and Jason Patric. The plot revolves around the efforts of two police detectives in search of the murderer of an undercover police officer. As they investigate, they engage in unethical behavior and uncover dark secrets that will challenge their fragile relationship.

This is a pretty great film. It's a drug-related investigation of a 2-month old case of a dead police officer, which has Liotta and Patric joining forces to find the killer. The plot unravels and the fault lies closer to home. Both actors give solid performances. Liotta masters his angry cop typecast, and Patric impresses with a tender performance of an ex-undercover cop. The film splices to and from past events, which help tie it all in well. It's utterly engrossing from the very first scene.
I am pissed that it took me 13 years to see this film. The ending isn't as revelatory as I would have liked, but it still works very well.
