I was hoping for this to be a fun entertaining thriller but it was anything but. It was incredibly dull and lifeless. The characters are so awfully written you don't care at all what is going on. Nicole Kidman gives what may be her worst performance her, though it obviously isn't his fault. Colin Firth fares a tad better than her but not enough to make an impression. The score here is awful too, as is the direction. Just a bad movie.

Honestly, I thought it was pretty good. I did find it a little dull at first but thought it got quite a bit better. Especially once something is revealed. Kidman played the part fine. She wasn't terrible at all. It's a throwback to the adult thrillers of the early 90's. Not high art, but enjoyable in the moment.

Before I Go to Sleep

Nothing revelatory. Nice bit of mystery, nice bit of suspense, but ultimately a wasted opportunity. The pulse ends abruptly and the epilogue puts a horrible taste in your mouth. Firth shows that he can do evil, but he doesn't give a memorable performance here because he keeps it on the down-low. Kidman is rather annoying and old now. Her softly spoken innocence tires within minutes and she doesn't have another level. Though Mark Strong is cool.
