 The Laramie Project The Laramie Project Quote: The Laramie Project is a 2002 drama film written and directed by Moisés Kaufman. Based on the play of the same name, the film tells the story of the aftermath of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. It premiered at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival and was first broadcast on HBO in March 2002.

Re: The Laramie Project In my opinion, this is one of the best original films that HBO has put out. As someone who was in the play, they did everything so, so great. First off the actors were great and they had quite the ensemble. It was haunting, touching, beautiful and even funny. Just a great movie and it's one that I hold close to my heart. This deserved a theatrical release.

Re: The Laramie Project I'm watching this right now and just watching it, it kind of amazes me. I can see teens watching this movie in 15 or 20 years and being just horrified at some of the things that are said and done in it. But that is one really great thing about the movie (and play), it doesn't shy away from either side and it isn't overly preachy.
