The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
The Incredible Burt WonderstoneQuote: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is a 2013 comedy film directed by Don Scardino and written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, based on a story by Chad Kultgen & Tyler Mitchell, and Daley & Goldstein. The film follows Las Vegas magician Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carell) as he attempts to reunite with his former partner Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi) to take on dangerous street magician Steve Gray (Jim Carrey).
The film began development in 2006, when New Line Cinema bought Kultgen's script, "Burt Dickenson: The Most Powerful Magician on Planet Earth". The development process gained momentum when Charles McDougall was hired as director in 2011, but he eventually left the project and was replaced with Scardino. Daley and Goldstein rewrote Kultgen's script which then saw further rewrites from Jason Reitman in June 2011.
Filming was scheduled to begin in October 2011, in Los Angeles, California but was pushed back to January 2012. On a $30 million budget, filming began on January 10, 2012 in Nevada with filming later moving to Los Angeles. The film is scheduled for release on March 15, 2013.

THE INCREDIBLE BURT WONDERSTONE
I was disappointed. Olivia Wilde wasn't used much. Buscemi is out of place. Carrell is a bit too much in character. He's quite dense in the first half of the film. Carrey was funny to a point. There was a part of the film that was quite funny when he and Carrell were one upping each other at a birthday party, but Carrey's last bit was underwhelming. The final moments of the film were disappointing too. That trick is just ridiculous but it was funny showing how it seemingly could have been done. Still ridiculous nonetheless. The film didn't capture me and the story just didn't connect either. I chuckled a few times but for a comedy with Carrell and Carrey it failed to produce.
Grade - C

Yeah a disappointing comedy. It starts off with potential but then falters in the middle and tries to redeem itself in the end but not enough to make the film passable. Though he has a couple notable scenes, Jim Carrey's character is completely unneeded in the film.

Re: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is an oddly low key take on the flamboyant world of magic. Though there is a pleasantly trippy tone to the storytelling, the whole thing's just so darn nice that it fades into a sedated blur.
While it was fun to see the five featured magicians: Burt, Anton, Steve, Rance, and Jane as portrayed by an embarrassment of talent - - it was also sad because you know how much more they would have been capable of in a better movie.
4 out of 5.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
I'm a little perplexed. Did they set out to make the most unfunny comedy of all-time? This is a really bad film. Steve Carell is The Incredible Bored Wonderstone throughout, playing a horrible character that I can't understand why anybody would root for. The only watchable character was Jim Carrey's, and the only one that got a few laughs from me was him too. Arkin was wasted, Olivia Wilde is, again, an assistant, but Gandolfini was fine.
Me liking Jim Carrey's character more than Carell's is no surprise. I prefer David Blaine to David Copperfield.

I enjoyed this. It did not blow my mind, but I found it very charming, light, and playful, and Jim Carrey is in fine form. The moment when he levitates and floats out of the bar is fantastic. The third-act resolutions are a bit uninspired, though, I admit, and it has one of the most anemic, shoehorned-in love stories in recent memory.

Re: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
I suggest to anyone, if they are wanting a magic-based comedy, watch The Magicians, not this.

I agree with most here. There's just not anything special about this movie and tomorrow I'll probably have forgotten I even watched it. It was nice seeing James Gandolfini though.

Re: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
I actually really enjoyed this. Maybe it was because I had absolutely no expectations (the only reason I rented it was because I got it for free from the library) but I had fun. It was entertaining and it had plenty of funny moments.
7/10
