Quote:
Farewell, My Lovely is a 1975 film, directed by Dick Richards and featuring Robert Mitchum and Charlotte Rampling. The film is based on Raymond Chandler's novel Farewell, My Lovely (1940), which had previously been adapted for film as Murder, My Sweet in 1944.

Mitchum would return to the role of Marlowe three years later in a 1978 remake of The Big Sleep, making him the only actor to portray Philip Marlowe more than once on the big screen.

Not a great movie. I enjoyed it, but I felt myself waiting for Stallone's scene. I wanted to like it more, because I do love private-eye movies, like The Maltese Falcon (the best of the genre), Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid , and Vertigo is kind of a P.I. movie too. There are others. But I just felt that it wasn't overly special. I should give it another watch actually, because the last time I watched it was about 7 years ago. Mitchum is good, though I wanted a bit more energy put into the role.
