Absolutely hilarious. This is just a great time at the movies. Both Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum work well off each other, and Tatum really shines in his first role of this sort. I also loved Brie Larson, who was quite charming and likable as Hill's romantic interest. Ellie Kemper stole every scene she was in - I wish she was featured a bit more. This isn't setting out to be high art - it's very tongue in cheek and pokes fun at itself at whatever opportunity it can get. But it's a very effective and fast-paced buddy comedy certain to be a crowdpleaser. I'd definitely be interested in seeing a sequel. A-/B+

To not reveal anything, was Depp funny?

Yes. His cameo was very well-done and surprising (even when I knew he was going to be in it).

Rightfully taking an entirely different approach than the melodramatic TV show, 21 Jump Street is high-energy and consistently hilarious. The film's biggest asset is the pairing of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum; we already know Hill can do great comedy, but Tatum is hilarious here. B+

Easily the funniest comedy since Bridesmaids. It's a lot of fun and surprisingly has a lot of heart too.

If Haywire finally showed Tatum could be good in something, this proves it. He is the heart and soul of this film, he is hysterical. The 5 stages of HFS on them is side splitting and the rest also has great moments. It's really funny and all the supporting characters are just as fun. The chicken truck exploding was hysterical and Depp is a riot in his cameo.

Like Paul last year, this will be the one to beat this year.

I agree.

The worst bit is the castration. Dropped this movie from a B+ to a B. :P

haha the carstration with the banana candy cock was something out of a Farrelly bros film, silly.

I kinda loved this film. Much much better than expected and exteremely funny. Tatum is indeed the heart and soul of this film but I also liked Hill in this.

Bring on College!!

Very funny, but its real value is in how self-aware it is. Not quite up to Hot Fuzz levels, but it can settle for being the dumb American cousin.

I found this movies very funny at the beginning, but it kinda felt no so funny more so serious close to the end, but the ending was awesome!!!!

I cant help but to think brie larson looked like a young kelly Clarkson.

Also i usely restrain myself from laughing loud in movies, but this was just to funny not to lol

One word for 21 Jump Street - - inconsistent.

It got off to a great start in meta storytelling but then kept slipping out of character - - I blame the two directors - - them's too freaky dudes!

By the end of the movie the only thing saving this from the dumpster is the two cute comic performances by the leads (and those too cool uncredited cameos).

It's a mixed bag that's expiring soon... put this loss leader on the bargain shelf!

2 out of 5.

...and ya know I usually love this kind of nonsense. :whaa:

The movies was very funny and fun.

However I liked the first half more where they get that cultural shock of going back to high school.
I had a similar experience when I went back to my high school for a few weeks for evening classes for adults. It was late but there was some high school kids hanging around for extra circular activities, and things are just so different from when I went back to high school in 2006.

Anyways very funny and fun...

Howver not at the Hangover/Superbad level...

I wholeheartedly disagree here.
21's dumber and more blunt, obnoxious, and silly than necessary. It has nice self-awareness and decent society/cop spoof. Not amazing. I liked it fine but Hot Fuzz is leagues and leagues better in every aspect.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

21 Jump Street

It was very good. I enjoyed myself for its whole 110 minute run time. It's funny, hip, and unashamedly referential to its own genre. I thought Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill were brilliant. These are two actors that I don't really like that much, but they were great here. Rob Riggle was superb, and extremely funny. After watching The Watch earlier, then watching this, it's amazing to see the contrast of comedy in the US, one is unfunny and the other is a bit more crazy and it works.

Great cameo by Johnny Depp. Took me completely by surprise. There were lots of funny lines, too many for me to remember. I think one of the funniest things was when they were trying to throw up in the toilet, and Tatum says to think of something disgusting, so Hill says "Your grandma's pussy" ... "and a dick going into it". Had me laughing quite hard.

In fact, all of the people that I normally dislike were good in this film. Jonah Hill, Tatum, and Depp. That goes for Ice Cube too, the biggest moron in movies, but his role was great, and his dialogue was refreshing for this genre role. Perhaps the ending joke with Riggle picking up his own penis with his mouth was over-the-top, unneeded and ridiculous, but everything else was fun.

Although I enjoyed it, I wouldn't like a sequel. Judging by the end, the next one will be in college. So it will just be a remake of the first one, and I dislike movies like that. If it has a completely different premise, perhaps not infiltrating a gang at all, then I would be on-board, but it'd have to be different.

B+

Its one of the best comedies of the last decade. I do wish it had swapped grosses with Ted though (even though it still did great).
