Re: Kill List
I only understood about half of what was said, and probably even less of the plot. It's a decently engaging kitchen sink hitman movie for about an hour, until the shit hits the fan and I have no idea what happens. I think I'm gonna have to watch it again (avec subtitles).

Re: Kill List
Kill List Not the best hitman movie I have ever seen. Not even the best British hitman movie I have ever seen. I liked the puzzling nature of the tale, but it wasn't supported by much knowledge of the three main characters, which is needed if the mystery is to take full effect - otherwise it just leaves your audience vacant of concern until a shocking final shot, by which point it's too late. The main problem for me was the casting; I just didn't like the characters much. As for the violence, it takes more than a few shocking acts of rage to amaze me. It did have an eerie score, though, which is a plus point. But unfortunately this won't sit long in the memory. D

Re: Kill List
Strange movie. Fantastic and frustrating almost in equal measure. For 75 minutes, it plays as the most ominous crime drama ever, chronicling two hit men as they move through a list of targets given to them by a mysterious client, a list starting with a priest. A sense of grim unrest is created through unusual editing (scenes often end mid-sentence) and an atmospheric score with a foreboding string section. There is a sense of menace and mystery in close to every frame. Short on overt explanatory dialogue and long on dramatic visuals and enigmatic references to unseen past events, the film can be hard to navigate, disorienting almost, but in a very powerful and unsettling way. One is convinced this is an extreme and serious exercise by a bright up-and-coming director. Then there are the last 20 minutes, which will define the film (in a positive or negative way) in most people's eyes. They are brutal and frightening and out of left field, but also a bit deflating and pedestrian, and they degrade the overall film: its early, creepy, genre-bending opacity seems emptier, more an elaborate tease than a courageous promise, once the earnest horror-movie endgame is revealed.

Re: Kill List
Any theories as to why the wife is laughing at the end?

I could hardly hear a thing that was said. No clue what occurred during the dinner party. Not sure I liked it as a whole but did like the atmosphere and score, if a score it even is.
