Re: Rubber
One of the single best deconstructions of the cinematic form I've ever seen.

Re: Rubber
I didn't love it or hate it. That's probably because of how Rubber breaks the fourth wall with reckless abandon. This is both a grea thing and, maybe because the audience is fundamentally uncomfortable with being referred to directly, occasionally irritating. At it best moments Rubber is a clever little deconstruction of horror movies and as trixter pointed out, even of film as a form, particularly regarding ideas of spectatorship and the gaze. But there's a preciously thin line between being genuinely clever and smugly self-satisfied, and it's a line that Rubber frequently straddles. I don't want to sell the film short: it's impressive how well a tire is transformed into a multi-dimensional character, and the sequence of events begs for some good conversation. Just be prepared for some painfully self-aware humor in between the enormous number of exploding heads.

Re: Rubber
The novelty of the film wears off too quickly and it becomes quite a bore by film's end.

Re: Rubber
Like jmovies said, it's interesting (fun) to watch at the beginning and becomes deadly boring way too fast. I needed weeks to finish this movie.
