Re: Contracorriente [Undertow]
Best film seen this year. I saw it at Queerfest with the director in attendance and he did a q&a after the screening. It should win the Oscar for Foreign Film but prob. won't, the Foreign branch has a tendency to fuck things up. It has amazing cinematography, showing views of Peru I had never known existed.

It's too bad this isn't going to be on DVD/Blu-ray until June 1st, but it's awesome it's getting a Blu-ray release.

Re: Contracorriente [Undertow]
I'm not crazy about love stories with supernatural elements so before watching it I was a little worried how it was going to come across. Thankfully it felt very natural and was never hokey. It's a beautiful, moving film. Great cinematography and performances. I wish it would have been selected as one of the nominees for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars. It certainly deserved to be. It's terribly unfortunate this film will be way under-seen.
A very nice film.
