Is that poster real? LOL. Look at Eva Mendes' chest. It's like a man with big pecs. That's horrible.

Re: The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans
That's the perfect kind of poster for this film.
It's quite something to witness a film as totally unhinged and off-the-wall as this. It's as if Herzog and Cage were working totally without a filter, and just went as batshit crazy as possible.
Luckily, it works. Cage is as good as he's ever been, and the film is funny and inventive and sly. It's constantly toying with the genre, winking at the audience, and yet it plays it all with deadpan seriousness. It's a fucking riot.
His soul is still dancing!

One of the best movies of 2009. Croc cam ftw!

Re: The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans
Outside of a strong performance from Nicolas Cage, Bad Lieutenant takes too many ups and downs along the way and ends up with a decent crime drama. The film had a good direction going for it in the first act and part of the second, but the rest of the film just didn't seem to fit as well. Eva Mendes along with some of the other cast due ok but sometime can overrun their stay. A disappointment in the end. **

My expectations were set way too high for this movie - - good, but way, way overrated.
3 out of 5.

I feel dirty, I agree with Bradley.
I enjoyed the attempt and the idea, but removing the abundant amount of preconceived notions and ideas about this movie, it's really only kind of good. Is Herzog goofy and crazy and funny? Yes. Is Nic Cage the same? Yes. Does that make this worth swooning over? Not entirely.
