Black Dynamite
Black DynamiteQuote: Black Dynamite is directed by Scott Sanders and co-written by White, Sanders, and Byron Minns, who also co-star. The look of the film is a retro homage to all of the blaxploitation movies of the seventies, but unlike Grindhouse (Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's exploitation homage) Black Dynamite does not employ "fake scratches or digitally generated retro deterioration", according to director Scott Sanders. The cinematographer Shawn Maurer tested a Super 16 Color Reversal Kodak film stock to get the high contrast and saturated look for the movie. The filmmakers supplemented their shoot with the use of period stock footage from several blaxploitation films and from Sony Pictures Stock Footage.

Re: Black Dynamite
The best comedy of the the year! Hands Down. The studio's need to be pistol-whipped for not releasing this more widely If you are a fan of the 70's style BP movies you'll have instant flashbacks when watching this. From the opening scene "Anaconda Malt Liquor makes the panties drop", to the "Shh you'll wake the other bitches", to the "You know he came around here about a week ago, with some cats that I had never seen before. Man I mean these cats looked mean! Meaner than two fat motherfuckers wrestling over pork chops & greens, can you dig it?" and the "We heard about your brother's death and we don't want you running around turning the streets into rivers of blood. Then tell me who did it and I'll just leave a puddle". This movie has tons of memorible lines and dialog. On top of that we get Michael Jai White kickin ass. Even though this is a comdey the actors in it play it deadpanned which makes it even funnier. There are also tons of sight gags that will have you rolling as well. If you do nothing else this year find a way to watch this movie you will not be disappointed! "You can hit the streets or you can hit the sheets ...now do you want to go, or do you want to cum?" Dynamite!! Dymaite!! A++

Re: Black Dynamite
Now yes, Black Dynamite is a film that is not meant to be taken too seriously but the film does lose its touch throughout. The laughs are big at the beginning of the film but once the film hits the same kind of joke a few more times, it just gets repetitive and really boring. The film has trouble picking itself back up along the way though there is a scene involving M&M's that is pretty funny and the ending is amusing. It's a little low for the black exploitation film as it could of been a lot more. Michael Jai White though does do a fine job as Black Dynamite. **

Its one of those movies where you have to be a fan of the 70s grindhouse movies to enjoy it. Its freaking hilarious. Too bad the studios never gave the movie a chance in theaters. Nixon and Lincoln appearances were just so random

We're dealing with the best spoof in a long LOONG time here. The best thing about it is that despite being a straight-on spoof it (mostly) doesn't go for the cheap laughs, but actually pays a lot of respect to the blaxploitation flicks of the 70s. Now I must admit that the comedy was a bit more difficult for me to get into during the first half hour due to me being little acquainted with the genre aside from the old Shaft flicks, but after a while I got used to the tone and was in for a ride and what ride it was! Now I must say that there're a lot of jokes that do fall flat on their faces, but with about a dozen of them a minute it still keeps you at least chuckling most of the time. There are a couple of huge laughs here too. The movie also contains one of the best comedy storylines I have ever seen. Michael Jai White clearly has found the role of his life in Black Dynamite and he plays him perfectly.
There's a lot to be said about this film, but most of it would spoil some good laughs. let me just say that this is a must-see flick for everyone even if you're not a blaxploitation fan. The movie has everything it needs: a great lead, an authentic look (complete with fighting sound effects and shoddy visual effects), a groovy soundtrack and the SINGLE MOST INGENIOUS evil masterplan I have ever seen. Oh and the villains are a hoot as well. And yes, there're many of them including drug dealers, corrupt politicians, the Fiendish Dr. Wu and his kung fu treachery and even more that I don't want to name now, but that put an icing on this cake. And all that during a running time of about 80 minutes.
Oh and I still can't get over that twist that starts with showcasing the immense knowledge of Greek and Roman mythology in the hood and ends with a certain zoom-in that had me laughing for over a minute straight.

Re: Black Dynamite
It's more amusing than flat-out hilarious, though it does have its fair share of belly laughs. Most of all, I admired its whole-hearted dedication to the exploitation style (complete with visible boom mikes, crappy editing, and a retro look). But it has trouble maintaining its momentum throughout.
"Oh no, not the orphanage!"
