Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Dawn of the DeadQuote: Dawn of the Dead (also known as Zombi internationally) is a 1978 zombie film, written and directed by George A. Romero. It was the second film made in Romero's Living Dead series, but contains no characters or settings from Night of the Living Dead, and shows in larger scale a zombie epidemic's apocalyptic effects on society. In the film, a pandemic of unknown origin has caused the reanimation of the dead, who prey on human flesh, which subsequently causes mass hysteria. The cast features David Emge, Ken Foree, Scott Reiniger and Gaylen Ross as survivors of the outbreak who barricade themselves inside a suburban shopping mall.
Dawn of the Dead was shot over approximately four months, from late 1977 to early 1978, in the Pennsylvania cities of Pittsburgh and Monroeville. Its primary filming location was the Monroeville Mall. The film was made on a relatively modest budget estimated at $650,000 US, and was a significant box office success for its time, grossing an estimated $55 million worldwide. Since opening in theaters in 1978, and despite heavy gore content, reviews for the film have been nearly unanimously positive.
Cultural and film historians read significance into the film's plot, linking it to critiques of large corporations as well as American consumerism and of the social decadence and the social and commercial excess present in America during the late 1970s.
In 2008, Dawn of the Dead was chosen by Empire magazine as one of The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time, along with Night of the Living Dead.
In addition to four official sequels, the film has spawned numerous parodies and pop culture references. A remake of the movie premiered in the United States on March 19, 2004. It was labeled a "re-imagining" of the original film's concept. It retains several major themes of the original film along with the primary setting in a shopping mall.

Hands down my favorite horror movie of all-time, this is the outstanding follow up to the horror classic Night of the Living Dead. Taking place shortly after the events of night of the living dead, a few survivors escape in a helecopter and take refuge in a giant shopping mall that is infested with zombies. These few survivors clear out the mall of the living dead and for a while live every consumer's fantasy of being able to take whatever they want from a shopping mall without reprocussions. Arguments, disagreements and a gang of invading bikers threaten to destroy their utopia however, and the flesh eating zombies are outside just waiting to get back in. This movie is a masterpiece in every way. A great story, and plenty of scares keep this movie moving along briskly. Highly recommended.
A+++

I did enjoy this movie a lot. I still love the part when the zombie is coming after the people try to escape and he walks into the helicopter blade =D> . Mr. Romero, you are my hero =D> . Land of the Dead is not far off now .

It really is great.
I also am a big fan of Day of the Dead.
And I love the Night and Dawn remakes too. I actually really don't like the original Night. Daff, stupid blonde bimbo that's catatonic for an hour before she dies and black and white which totally ruins the gore. The Night remake is just awesome. I first saw it when I was like 8 on, I think, HBO or one of them, and I was ssssoooo scared cause it was like 2am when it was finally over. It was probably my first zombie movie.

Your high-minded opinion might have merit if you actually elaborated on why your opinion is as emperically accurate as you make it out to be. I get that it's your style, but your one word "This is that." posts would carry more weight if they were mixed with some depth. C'mon trixster, show us how smart you are, I know you can!

I enjoy short, concise reviews. I love writing wordy, thought-out reviews as much as the next guy, but sometimes it's too much. Just get to the point. And I like that.

Plus, I haven't seen this film in quite some time, and would have to watch it again to go deeper. And I really don't want to do that.
