 Batman Forever Batman Forever Quote: Batman Forever is a 1995 American superhero film directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Tim Burton. It is the third installment of the Batman film series and stars Val Kilmer as Batman. The plot focuses on Batman trying to stop Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) and the Riddler (Jim Carrey) in their villainous scheme to drain information from all the brains in Gotham City. He gains allegiance from psychiatrist Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman) and orphaned ward Dick Grayson (Chris O'Donnell).
The film had a change in tone compared to the previous installments, more family-friendly, since Warner Bros. considered that the previous film, Batman Returns, underperformed at the box office due to its violence and dark overtones. Production was troubled, with many actors considered for the main roles, and Kilmer entering in conflicts with the director and the rest of the crew. Batman Forever received mixed reviews upon release, but was a success with audiences, out-grossing Batman Returns with over $336 million worldwide and becoming the second-highest grossing film of 1995. Second best in the series. Vastly better then the original, but not quite as good as the sequel. Of course, anything is better then the fourth film in the soon to be quiptilogy.

Val Kilmer is a nice Bat, but I hated Riddler and Two-Face. For me the acting of Jones and Carrey sucks.

However I say Keaton was the worst Batman, rivaled by only Clooney. Clooney's persona was at least kind of like Bruce Wayne's. However Keaton was greatly miscast and is about as exciting as plywood.
Far superior to its trashy prequels and sequel. C + from me.

Schmacher did much better with this one, but it still has nothing on Begins, Batman, and Batman Returns.

Gleefully Neon and Brash without going over the edge like Batman & Robin. Its an enjoyable piece of summer cinema.

Its good, it for the most part lacks any dark edge. Maybe one day, we'll see the more Burton and Kilmber influenced darker film if WB gets off their asses.
Kilmer was a very good Bruce Wayne, and was very similar like Keaton. It was good for the time, but after Batman and Robin I hate this movie more and more. Still its entertaining and was interesting, even though nothing tops Batman Returns.

Re: Batman Forever Eh, it's entertaining, and the style is kinda enjoyable, but at times I had to turn away because the film is so. damn. campy. It really dampens it to the point that I'm almost interested in watching Batman & Robin just to see how much farther they could push the camp. Still, not awful, just...alright.

As for the camp, it makes this one look like Batman Begins. Speaking of Forever... another one of my guilty pleasures. I really loved it when I was like ten, but watching it now? It's pretty cringe-worthy at times. Jim Carrey is playing Jim Carrey, and Tommy Lee Jones.... is also playing Jim Carrey. I did like Kilmer, though (probably the best of this 'series'), and the story is interesting, at least. I'm not kidding.  That was the summer I alternated between B&R and Men in Black at the theatres. Like Magnus, I also saw this one as a tyke and liked it, but watching it again it's almost painful at moments. Either way, if I ever see Batman & Robin playing on cable, I might stop simply out of morbid curiosity.
